dg on story of the guitarThe second episode in the three-part BBC One TV series Imagine: The Story Of The Guitar, airs tonight (Sunday, October 12th) in the UK at 10.20pm. The series explores the history and culture surrounding the world's favourite instrument and the personal stories of those who have dedicated their lives to it.

The second programme continues the story of the evolution of the electric guitar from early experiments such as Rickenbacker's "Frying Pan"; to its eventual transformation into the solid-body instrument that would become the central plank of rock 'n' roll. According to a preview in today's Sunday Times, the programme includes David Gilmour enthusing about the Fender Stratocaster.

If you miss the show, and are in the UK, you can watch it on demand via the BBC's iPlayer service at their website, and on Virgin Media cable. And, if you want to watch a pair of exclusive clips of David talking to presenter Alan Yentob about the Pink Floyd sound, solos, bending strings and the expressive powers of the guitar, visit the BBC's Story Of The Guitar website now.
