Brain Damage and A Fleeting Glimpse

Pink Floyd 1987WELCOME TO THE 26th YEAR OF BRAIN DAMAGE, YOUR PINK FLOYD, DAVID GILMOUR, NICK MASON, SYD BARRETT, RICHARD WRIGHT AND ROGER WATERS NEWS RESOURCE!

It's 2025! This year sees the 50th anniversary of Wish You Were Here, which is an incredible thought; where does the time go?!

We now know that Pink Floyd At Pompeii MCMLXXII on Blu-ray, 2CD, 2LP, DVD, digital and cinema screenings are on their way, with the releases on May 2nd, and the cinema screenings shortly before. NOT to be missed!

There's also been three Record Store Day releases released on April 12th, from David Gilmour, Nick Mason's Saucerful Of Secrets, and Roger Waters which are also definitely worth tracking down, either in a participating store, or online, now that RSD has finished.

Last year, David Gilmour's superb new album, Luck and Strange, was released in a variety of formats, and a selection of coloured vinyls. A limited number of concert dates thrilled crowds in Brighton and London, England, Rome, Italy, and Los Angeles and New York, USA. Rome shows were filmed for release at some point...watch this space!

The Nick Mason's Saucerful Of Secrets 2024 Set The Controls tour revealed a band in even better form than the 2022/23 shows which managed to exceed everyone's hopes and expectations! Our sincerest hopes are that they continue, but in the meantime, there's the RSD release, and the earlier live recording from London's Roundhouse on Blu-ray, DVD/2CD, and 2LP which is really excellent.

Of course, Roger Waters read three extracts from his memoirs in October 2023 at the London Palladium, so it might not be too long before that is published...he's also working on his new album based around The Bar - we'll let you know as soon as we get all the info!

The Pink Floyd Tsunami Raffle Print E-mail
Written by Matt
Thursday, 14 April 2005

The Pink Floyd Tsunami Raffle closed at the end of March, with the winners being picked on April 2nd. All the totals have been totted up now, and we are very happy to reveal the total that was raised through the generosity of those who donated items, those who publicised the raffle, and, of course, those who bought raffle tickets!

There were 966 tickets sold, and we took in $9660. As many of the great prizes were pretty heavy, postage knocked us around a fair bit, as did PayPal fees, but it is still a brilliant amount of money, and should go a long way to assisting tsunami victims, who, despite not being as "news-worthy" now to the media, are still suffering and trying to rebuild shattered lives.

Col Turner of our sister site, A Fleeting Glimpse, has now handed over a monster cheque to the charity World Vision, for the grand total of $8519.78 (Aus) which is approximately $6,605.09 (US), or £3,491.17 (GB pounds)!

A great result, and it has made all the effort worthwhile. Our special thanks to Col for all the hard work he unwittingly set himself up for!

Since the Pink Floyd Tsunami raffle appeal was launched in January, the response was enormous, with well over 100 prizes being donated in a few short weeks, from fans, the performers management teams, and other concerned parties who wanted to help out.

Our thanks to all those who have helped - to the majority of Floyd websites, who joined together in this global effort, the incredible generosity of a number of people worldwide, and the help of various parts of the international media who covered this raffle.

This includes the BBC, Mojo Magazine, and Record Collector Magazine, along with various radio stations worldwide, together with other parts of the media. Our grateful thanks to all those giving the event valuable publicity - and a special thanks to EMI and the official Floyd website, who gave the raffle marvelous support by producing a special mail out to Floyd fans worldwide!
