Will Shutes, co-author of the superlative Barrett book, is exhibiting the extremely rare 1969 film 'Psychedelia' at the Room&Book Art book fair at London's ICA this weekend. The 8mm Warhol-esque film was shot by Kevin Whitney, and it has sat under his bed for 40 years. It features Syd Barrett amongst other faces from the London underground scene of the time, and has only been seen once since its original exhibition in 1970. Entry to the fair - including the screening - is free.
To coincide with this rare celluloid Syd appearance, the publishers of Barrett are offering the book at a special price until Friday (June 13th). The £300 Signature Limited Edition is just £200 (33% off the regular price) and the £70 Classic Edition is just £40 (more than 40% off!).
Looking further forward, on July 1st, Rhino are releasing Syd Barrett's The Madcap Laughs, Barrett, and Opel albums on heavyweight 180g vinyl. With the resurgence of interest and take-up of vinyl, these high quality new editions are sure to be popular. Here are the direct links at the Amazon stores so you can pre-order them if you'd like to add these to your collection, whilst they are available:
Don't forget, these will all qualify for their pre-order price guarantee, ensuring you pay (automatically) the lowest price they have the item on offer for between your order, and the release date. Using our Amazon links also helps us hugely!
