The programme includes an exploration of Barrett’s passing and the fulsome tributes in the media with comments from editors and journalists about what made Barrett so special.

"The Thing About Syd" airs on BBC Radio 2 on Saturday, July 14th at 8pm (BST; GMT+1hr). BBC Radio can be heard in a number of ways: in the UK on traditional and DAB radios, Freeview, digital satellite and cable services, and worldwide via, which has a live stream and the facility to "Listen Again" for a period of seven days following broadcast.
