Brain Damage and A Fleeting Glimpse

Pink Floyd 1968WELCOME TO THE 26th YEAR OF BRAIN DAMAGE, YOUR PINK FLOYD, DAVID GILMOUR, NICK MASON, SYD BARRETT, RICHARD WRIGHT AND ROGER WATERS NEWS RESOURCE!

It's 2025! This year sees the 50th anniversary of Wish You Were Here, which is an incredible thought; where does the time go?!

The stunningly restored and remixed Pink Floyd At Pompeii MCMLXXII on Blu-ray, 2CD, 2LP, DVD, digital and cinema screenings are now here - with some more cinema screenings in selected places. However you experience it, it is NOT to be missed!

There's also been three Record Store Day releases released on April 12th, from David Gilmour, Nick Mason's Saucerful Of Secrets, and Roger Waters which are also definitely worth tracking down, either in a participating store, or online, now that RSD has finished.

Last year, David Gilmour's superb new album, Luck and Strange, was released in a variety of formats, and a selection of coloured vinyls. A limited number of concert dates thrilled crowds in Brighton and London, England, Rome, Italy, and Los Angeles and New York, USA. Rome shows were filmed for release at some point...watch this space!

The Nick Mason's Saucerful Of Secrets 2024 Set The Controls tour revealed a band in even better form than the 2022/23 shows which managed to exceed everyone's hopes and expectations! Our sincerest hopes are that they continue, but in the meantime, there's the RSD release, and the earlier live recording from London's Roundhouse on Blu-ray, DVD/2CD, and 2LP which is really excellent.

Of course, Roger Waters read three extracts from his memoirs in October 2023 at the London Palladium, so it might not be too long before that is published...he's also working on his new album based around The Bar - we'll let you know as soon as we get all the info!

Storm Thorgerson's "Mind Over Matter: The Images of Pink Floyd" book winners Print E-mail

Mind Over Matter - The Images of Pink Floyd (2014)Thanks to the many hundreds of you who took the time to enter our competition to win one of three copies of the superb fifth edition of Storm Thorgerson's 'Mind Over Matter: The Images of Pink Floyd', which was recently published.

This new, fifth edition incorporates an additional 32 pages of material from campaigns, releases and re-issues created since 2007, when the previous edition appeared. Before his sad passing, Storm revisited the work he created for these later works and albums and offered insights into the work that went into the creation of this legendary album art. Designers who worked with Storm have also contributed to this new edition of Mind Over Matter. Amongst the new material is artwork from the Oh By The Way box set, the rather wonderful Atom Heart Mother 40th Anniversary 'Wire Cow' sculpture, the Why Pink Floyd? Campaign and the Dark Side Of The Moon 40th Anniversary images and stickers.

For those who haven't seen previous editions, the book features the images from Pink Floyd's album sleeves and promotional material designed for the group. It features almost all Pink Floyd's iconic album covers, posters, singles bags, a selection of band photos, booklet pages and rough artwork that developed into iconic designs. As you'll see from our review (which has a focus on the changes and additions from the previous edition), the book is thoroughly recommended!

At the foot of the review, we also gave the opportunity to win one of three copies. We've gone through the huge number of entries, most of which correctly answered our three questions, and the following winners were picked out the BD "hat": Kaitlynn Defelice, Los Angeles, California; Mike Greene, Wallingford, UK; Bob Follen, Todmorden, UK. Congratulations to these three, and better luck next time to everyone else who participated...
