Next week sees a special, one-off event in London. Being held in the shadow of the building which was the subject of arguably Pink Floyd's best loved album cover (after Dark Side Of The Moon, of course!), Storm Thorgerson talks about how the iconic Animals picture came about.

Pink Floyd's pig at Battersea Power StationThe event is being held at the Pump House Gallery in Battersea Park, London on 19 October 2006 from 6.30pm - 9.00pm.

The gallery have been working with the German artist, Thomas Kilpper, on a project in and outside the gallery. He has referenced the ways Battersea Power Station has been used, especially the Animals cover (he has built an enormous pig sculpture outside the gallery using wood from Battersea Park; it lies on its back, like the crashed Pink Floyd pig, Algie).

They have managed to arrange for Storm Thorgerson to talk about his direction of the legendary photo shoot when they floated the pig above the power station. As many of you will know from various interviews (including the lengthy one we had with him in September 2004), he is always candid, always informative, and always entertaining! An event not to be missed...

The Pump House Gallery have invited BD visitors to come along to the talk. There's no charge to attend the event, but they expect it will be popular so advise that you reserve a place. Their telephone number is 020 7350 0523.

Our thanks to Kirsteen McSwein from the gallery for her help.
