Brain Damage and A Fleeting Glimpse

Pink Floyd 1968WELCOME TO THE 26th YEAR OF BRAIN DAMAGE, YOUR PINK FLOYD, DAVID GILMOUR, NICK MASON, SYD BARRETT, RICHARD WRIGHT AND ROGER WATERS NEWS RESOURCE!

It's 2025! This year sees the 50th anniversary of Wish You Were Here, which is an incredible thought; where does the time go?!

The stunningly restored and remixed Pink Floyd At Pompeii MCMLXXII on Blu-ray, 2CD, 2LP, DVD, digital and cinema screenings are now here - with some more cinema screenings in selected places. However you experience it, it is NOT to be missed!

There's also been three Record Store Day releases released on April 12th, from David Gilmour, Nick Mason's Saucerful Of Secrets, and Roger Waters which are also definitely worth tracking down, either in a participating store, or online, now that RSD has finished.

Last year, David Gilmour's superb new album, Luck and Strange, was released in a variety of formats, and a selection of coloured vinyls. A limited number of concert dates thrilled crowds in Brighton and London, England, Rome, Italy, and Los Angeles and New York, USA. Rome shows were filmed for release at some point...watch this space!

The Nick Mason's Saucerful Of Secrets 2024 Set The Controls tour revealed a band in even better form than the 2022/23 shows which managed to exceed everyone's hopes and expectations! Our sincerest hopes are that they continue, but in the meantime, there's the RSD release, and the earlier live recording from London's Roundhouse on Blu-ray, DVD/2CD, and 2LP which is really excellent.

Of course, Roger Waters read three extracts from his memoirs in October 2023 at the London Palladium, so it might not be too long before that is published...he's also working on his new album based around The Bar - we'll let you know as soon as we get all the info! Before all that though is the release of Roger Waters This Is Not A Drill Live In Prague on 4LP vinyl, Blu-ray, DVD, 2CD and digital on August 1st!

Scarfe On The Wall complete set[UPDATE: COMPETITION NOW CLOSED] Our thanks to those of you who have already entered our latest competition to win an Artist's Proof of Scarfe On The Wall, the stunning limited edition hand-signed and numbered box set commemorating Pink Floyd's The Wall project (more details, and exclusive pictures, here). Scarfe On The Wall is a highly desirable collaboration between the artist Gerald Scarfe, Roger Waters, and the luxury book publisher Gloria, and it is selling well (helped by its very limited nature).

And, thanks to our friends at Gloria, we've got a great prize for one lucky Brain Damage reader - a Scarfe On The Wall artist's proof, a prize that money just can't buy! We've now seen the prize itself and we reveal below what you get and just how wonderful it is...

You've only got six days left to work out the right answers and get your entry in to us. We really do urge you to get your entry in for this prize: read on for the all-important competition details.

The Artist's Proof is identical to the version on sale for £1195 (plus shipping) but prepared especially for Gerald to give his OK to. The contents and presentation are the same, but the edition number has an AP prefix, marking out this as an even more exclusive version of the set.

The set comprises a "monograph" book (hand signed by Roger Waters) which can ONLY be bought as part of this box set, and eight limited edition prints, shown here exclusively - five pieces of artwork used at the time, along with three prints that have never been seen before now, inspired by Comfortably Numb, the judge and the band onstage at Earls Court. All of the prints, 16"x20" giclée prints on thick matt art paper, are numbered and hand signed by Gerald Scarfe.

The book contains an in-depth interview with Gerald Scarfe about his creative journey and involvement with Pink Floyd in the concert performances and film of "The Wall". Together with this interview, the 38 page book contains his preparatory sketches and artwork for the album and animation, offering a fascinating insight into the talents behind one of the most iconic concept albums of all time.

I'm sure you'll agree, this is an incredible prize, to which we again thank Gloria Luxury Books for letting us offer to you!

There's more details and exclusive pictures here, and orders for the box set can be placed over at www.glorialuxury.com. And don't forget your exclusive Brain Damage discount!

To be in with a chance of winning the artist's proof - a prize that money really can't buy - you need to answer the following questions correctly:

  1. What was Roger's original concept for the character "Pink", that was drawn by Gerald?
  2. What's the name of Gerald's recent career retrospective book which also talks about his work on The Wall project?
  3. Name two other books that Gloria have published.
  4. What discount on the price of the Scarfe On The Wall boxset can you get just by being a Brain Damage visitor?

News of this competition has reached other sites, including internet forums. Whilst we of course welcome all entrants, it would be nice for the prize to go to a big Floyd fan, rather than someone with a passing interest, who enters all competitions they can find online. This is due to the very exclusive nature of what's on offer.

Therefore, can you please include a note of roughly how long you've been visiting Brain Damage... there's no right or wrong answer to this - even if you are new to this site, we're keen to know. If you've already entered, don't worry - your entry is valid but we just wanted to add this for all remaining entries so we know which ones have come from BD visitors!
