Brain Damage and A Fleeting Glimpse

Pink Floyd 1968WELCOME TO THE 26th YEAR OF BRAIN DAMAGE, YOUR PINK FLOYD, DAVID GILMOUR, NICK MASON, SYD BARRETT, RICHARD WRIGHT AND ROGER WATERS NEWS RESOURCE!

It's 2025! This year sees the 50th anniversary of Wish You Were Here, which is an incredible thought; where does the time go?!

The stunningly restored and remixed Pink Floyd At Pompeii MCMLXXII on Blu-ray, 2CD, 2LP, DVD, digital and cinema screenings are now here - with some more cinema screenings in selected places. However you experience it, it is NOT to be missed!

There's also been three Record Store Day releases released on April 12th, from David Gilmour, Nick Mason's Saucerful Of Secrets, and Roger Waters which are also definitely worth tracking down, either in a participating store, or online, now that RSD has finished.

Last year, David Gilmour's superb new album, Luck and Strange, was released in a variety of formats, and a selection of coloured vinyls. A limited number of concert dates thrilled crowds in Brighton and London, England, Rome, Italy, and Los Angeles and New York, USA. Rome shows were filmed for release at some point...watch this space!

The Nick Mason's Saucerful Of Secrets 2024 Set The Controls tour revealed a band in even better form than the 2022/23 shows which managed to exceed everyone's hopes and expectations! Our sincerest hopes are that they continue, but in the meantime, there's the RSD release, and the earlier live recording from London's Roundhouse on Blu-ray, DVD/2CD, and 2LP which is really excellent.

Of course, Roger Waters read three extracts from his memoirs in October 2023 at the London Palladium, so it might not be too long before that is published...he's also working on his new album based around The Bar - we'll let you know as soon as we get all the info!

Scarfe On The Wall - new box set in July Print E-mail
Written by Matt
Wednesday, 25 June 2008

scarfe on the wall In the run-up to the 30th anniversary celebrations of Pink Floyd's The Wall next year, a stunning limited edition hand-signed and numbered box set will be appearing in mid-August 2008 (initially, was due in July, but date has moved slightly). Scarfe On The Wall is a highly desirable collaboration between the artist Gerald Scarfe, who recently was appointed CBE in the Queen's Birthday Honours, Roger Waters, and the luxury book publisher Gloria.

With just 300 copies produced, this set is bound to be popular with the serious Floyd collectors, with Scarfe collectors, and with special edition book collectors alike. As the details below reveal, it is an edition certainly worth getting if you can afford it...

The limited edition print box set contains eight exhibition-quality artist prints of Gerald Scarfe's images for the multi-platinum selling album, The Wall, individually selected by Gerald and Roger, and individually signed by Gerald. This set of prints includes two newly commissioned artworks by Scarfe revisiting The Wall imagery two and a half decades after the iconic album was first launched.

UPDATE, July 30th: the prints now include THREE previous unseen images, inspired by Comfortably Numb, the judge and the band onstage at Earls Court. All of the prints are numbered and signed by Gerald Scarfe; they are 16”x20” giclée prints on thick matt art paper.

The box set also contains a 32pp large format, lavishly illustrated companion monologue that has been hand-signed by Roger. This beautifully produced publication contains many early illustrations and working drawings for The Wall, as well as a rare interview with Gerald discussing his body of work with Pink Floyd.

The book itself is fascinating. Gerald explains about his childhood, and how his upbringing and early experiences had a bearing on what the future was to bring for him professionally. He talks of how his relationship with the band had its seeds in seeing them at UFO in London, which lead to his work with them on the 1974 UK Winter tour.

He discusses in detail how the Wall project developed, with Roger initially wanting to work on the concept with Gerald, not necessarily seeing it as a band project. It was Gerald who suggested turning it into an album, then a show, then a film.

The trials and tribulations of working with the various parties to get the movie done are covered in detail, with Gerald revealing just how close his relationship with the band members became.

As a reminder, the first Artist's Proof edition of the set has been donated to the Crisis charity auction, to accompany a Fender Strat that Gerald has painted, and that Pink Floyd members have signed. More details here.

Each of the 300 volumes in this strictly limited edition will cost £1,195 as a special pre-order price (only available for a month at that amount), and they are available to order direct from Gloria by telephone (within the UK) on 0870 279 7353 or via email on This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it . Items such as this box set normally have a good investment potential, as seen by some of the other special edition Pink Floyd related books and packages over the last few years (such as the Syd Barrett-signed Psychedelic Renegades, and Nick Mason's Inside Out box set, both of which were created by Genesis Publications). Act fast to secure your copy, before they all disappear. We've a feeling that very few of these will reappear in the years to come...
