Brain Damage and A Fleeting Glimpse

Pink Floyd 1968WELCOME TO THE 26th YEAR OF BRAIN DAMAGE, YOUR PINK FLOYD, DAVID GILMOUR, NICK MASON, SYD BARRETT, RICHARD WRIGHT AND ROGER WATERS NEWS RESOURCE!

It's 2025! This year sees the 50th anniversary of Wish You Were Here, which is an incredible thought; where does the time go?!

The stunningly restored and remixed Pink Floyd At Pompeii MCMLXXII on Blu-ray, 2CD, 2LP, DVD, digital and cinema screenings are now here - with some more cinema screenings in selected places. However you experience it, it is NOT to be missed!

There's also been three Record Store Day releases released on April 12th, from David Gilmour, Nick Mason's Saucerful Of Secrets, and Roger Waters which are also definitely worth tracking down, either in a participating store, or online, now that RSD has finished.

Last year, David Gilmour's superb new album, Luck and Strange, was released in a variety of formats, and a selection of coloured vinyls. A limited number of concert dates thrilled crowds in Brighton and London, England, Rome, Italy, and Los Angeles and New York, USA. Rome shows were filmed for release and cinema/IMAX screenings, and a book, 2Blu-ray, 3DVD, 4LP, 2CD and deluxe box set options have now been announced.

The Nick Mason's Saucerful Of Secrets 2024 Set The Controls tour revealed a band in even better form than the 2022/23 shows which managed to exceed everyone's hopes and expectations! Our sincerest hopes are that they continue, but in the meantime, there's the RSD release, and the earlier live recording from London's Roundhouse on Blu-ray, DVD/2CD, and 2LP which is really excellent.

Of course, Roger Waters read three extracts from his memoirs in October 2023 at the London Palladium, so it might not be too long before that is published...he's also working on his new album based around The Bar - we'll let you know as soon as we get all the info! Before all that though is the release of Roger Waters This Is Not A Drill Live In Prague on 4LP vinyl, Blu-ray, DVD, 2CD and digital on August 1st!

Roger Waters' & Nick Mason's custom guitars on sale Print E-mail

nick mason guitar town Many of you will recall our story from June 23rd, giving an update on the new charity project that saw some 30 musicians designing Gibson Les Paul guitars. The project, Gibson Guitar Town London, hopes to replicate the success of a similar project in Nashville, Tennessee in 2005, which raised over $300,000 for local charities.

Those involved in the project include Nick Mason, Phil Manzanera, Roger Waters and Gerald Scarfe, to give it a healthy Pink Floyd connection!

The specially designed guitars in two sizes (normal, and ten-feet tall!) have been on display in London. The thirty regular sized instruments have been show at The O2 (formerly the Millennium Dome in Greenwich, London), and the oversized instruments were on display around More London, SE1.

The organisers have now put the guitars up for sale by auction - all proceeds will be split equally between The Prince’s Trust, Teenage Cancer Trust, and Nordoff-Robbins Music Therapy. Details of all of the guitars can be found on eBay, where you can place your bids - your chance to own a piece of rock 'n roll history.

Of the current lots on eBay, Roger's and Nick's will be of greatest interest to the BD readership:

Lot 51: Nick Mason Shine On... Gibson SG Guitar

Mahogany neck and  body, rosewood fingerboard, humbucking neck and bridge pick ups, designed by artist Justine Smith, and signed by Nick Mason, who said: "30 Ten foot hand painted Les Paul guitars positioned around Central London this June, seems like a great way to raise money for the three wonderful charities."

Lot 52: Roger Waters Gibson SG Guitar

roger_guitar_town_1 roger_guitar_town_2 Acrylic on a SG standard Gibson Electric Guitar. Mahogany neck and body, rosewood fingerboard, humbucking neck and bridge pick ups, designed by Gerald Scarfe, and signed by Roger Waters. Gerald said: "I felt on home ground here, as these are the characters I designed myself for the Wall - the Mother, the Teacher, the Girlfriend and Pink himself. The frets naturally suggested to me the pointing of The Wall."

See www.londonguitartown.com for further information on the project and the auction.
