ca ira logoWith the Brazilian rainforest currently echoing to the sounds of Roger Waters' opera Ça Ira, thanks to three performances at the opera house in Manaus, we have a wrap up for you. Included below are video clips showing Roger's introduction to the audience, a mid-show performance, and a couple of TV reports from the rehearsals.

We also have a selection of pictures, kindly supplied to us by Lika Geribello, the executive producer of the event. The final performance takes place tomorrow night, at 8pm, and more information can be found at manausonline.com.

Of the event itself, Lika told us: "We had a beautiful opening. The theatre was crowded, press from all over the country, Roger was very happy. Rick Wentworth came with him too. They attended the Dress Rehearsals and stayed for the performance.

"Roger opened the night with a little speech in Portuguese and everybody loved it. It was very kind of him to do that". The following clip shows Roger's speech:

Our friend Elzira Miotto adds: "So, what I can say about the performance is that it was really great despite the small stage and the tight budget. The great sensation was the magnificent Amazon Theatre, which acoustically is excellent. Roger's music filled the wonderful place in grand style.

"Roger made his brief Portuguese speech, seemingly very nervous but as always, he looked to be very happy for being there. He was seated on the first floor, box 18 (setor laranja, 1st pav., "camarotes extras"). Laurie, his wife, was there too. During the intermission, I could see them talking and drinking wine in a very good mood".

Here's a clip of Leonardo Neiva performing during the show:

And here's two Brazilian TV news reports, from the rehearsals that took place in the days running up to the opening night:

Finally, with thanks to Lika, and to photographer Bob Toledo, here are a selection of pictures from the opening night:
