WELCOME TO THE 26th YEAR OF BRAIN DAMAGE, YOUR PINK FLOYD, DAVID GILMOUR, NICK MASON, SYD BARRETT, RICHARD WRIGHT AND ROGER WATERS NEWS RESOURCE!
It's 2025! This year sees the 50th anniversary of Wish You Were Here, which is an incredible thought; where does the time go?!
The stunningly restored and remixed Pink Floyd At Pompeii MCMLXXII on Blu-ray, 2CD, 2LP, DVD, digital and cinema screenings are now here - with some more cinema screenings in selected places. However you experience it, it is NOT to be missed!
There's also been three Record Store Day releases released on April 12th, from David Gilmour, Nick Mason's Saucerful Of Secrets, and Roger Waters which are also definitely worth tracking down, either in a participating store, or online, now that RSD has finished.
Last year, David Gilmour's superb new album, Luck and Strange, was released in a variety of formats, and a selection of coloured vinyls. A limited number of concert dates thrilled crowds in Brighton and London, England, Rome, Italy, and Los Angeles and New York, USA. Rome shows were filmed for release at some point...watch this space!
The Nick Mason's Saucerful Of Secrets 2024 Set The Controls tour revealed a band in even better form than the 2022/23 shows which managed to exceed everyone's hopes and expectations! Our sincerest hopes are that they continue, but in the meantime, there's the RSD release, and the earlier live recording from London's Roundhouse on Blu-ray, DVD/2CD, and 2LP which is really excellent.
Of course, Roger Waters read three extracts from his memoirs in October 2023 at the London Palladium, so it might not be too long before that is published...he's also working on his new album based around The Bar - we'll let you know as soon as we get all the info! Before all that though is the release of Roger Waters This Is Not A Drill Live In Prague on 4LP vinyl, Blu-ray, DVD, 2CD and digital on August 1st!

This morning, another of Roger
Waters summer concerts was announced, via a live webcast press
conference. As previously noted, the concert is for a special
performance of the Pink Floyd 1973 classic, Dark Side Of The Moon, with
drummer Nick Mason taking part in the show.

Roger Waters at Magny-Cours |
The press conference was part of
today's launch in Paris for the 2006 French Grand Prix. The event, part
of the Formula 1 championship, marks the 100th anniversary of Grand
Prix racing, and will be held at the Magny-Cours circuit in Nevers,
France.
The show takes place on the first
day of the three day race meeting. It takes place after the F1 practice
sessions, and support races, at the circuit, on Friday, July 14th - the
annual French Bastille Day national holiday. A complete range of
tickets is available with a special combination race-concert ticket on
sale for 100 Euros ($118). Ticket sales for this event will begin
tomorrow.
"By a fortunate twist of fate the
French GP this year coincides with the French national holiday and will
feature an exceptional concert," said Jacques Regis, the head of the
Federation Francaise du Sport Automobile. "The Nevers-Magny Cours
circuit promises to be the location for a great festival of automobile
racing eagerly awaited by fans in France and the whole of Europe."
At the press conference, it was
confirmed that Nick would be taking part in this concert. His interest
in motor racing, along with the proximity of the Formula 1 Grand Prix
at the venue, presumably made this an easy decision for Nick!
Roger confirmed the majority of
his touring band at the conference. With the exception of a couple of
musicians that he said he was "unable to mention yet", the line-up is
as follows:
- Graham Broad - drums
- Andy Fairweather-Low - guitar
- Snowy White - guitar
- Jon Carin - Keyboards
- Harry Waters - keyboards
- Katie Kissoon - vocals
- PP Arnold - vocals
- Carol Kenyon - vocals
- Ian Ritchie - sax
Talking of the decision to perform
Dark Side of The Moon, an album Roger hasn't performed live since 1975
(Nick, David Gilmour and Richard Wright performed it on their 1994
tour), he said that "it is a very complete work which still sounds
fresh today."
He noted that he was not planning
to be at the Grand Prix itself on July 16th, because he has a concert
planned in Locarno, Switzerland (which is still to be confirmed) but
mulled over the possibilities of seeing the race. "Maybe I'll do that,"
he said. "It is only a short flight to Locarno. I'd love to do it."
Tickets for the show, billing
Roger as "The Genius And Heart Of Pink Floyd", are due to go on sale
for this venue tomorrow morning (February 28th), through the event
website: www.gpfrancef1.com.
As with the upcoming David
Gilmour shows, we want to give Roger's shows comprehensive coverage.
We'd love to see your comments about the shows, and any ticket scans,
pictures, reviews, set lists, newspaper reports, concert adverts,
interviews, audio, video, or anything else you come across. We're
currently setting up a page for each show's goodies and practical
information, accessed via the Roger Waters 2006 Tour page, so keep checking back. Please get in touch if you can help, too!
