A reminder for all of you considering placing a bid for the book that Syd Barrett created by hand in late 1964/early 1965, that the eBay auction in aid of the Syd Barrett Trust closes this evening at 9:04pm GMT. At time of writing, with just ten hours to go the bids are currently standing at £12,100.
Fart Enjoy was a book he came up with for a friend of his - Andrew Rawlinson - and has only been on public display once: as part of the fascinating Interstellar exhibition held in Paris at the end of 2003 (an illustrated report of which can be read here). A scaled-down reproduction of Fart Enjoy was also included with the deluxe edition of the 40th anniversary release of Piper At The Gates Of Dawn.
Click here to visit the auction, which includes a passage written by Rawlinson giving the story behind the book. You can buy prints (framed or unframed) of pages from the book here, and visit Syd-Barrett-Trust.org.uk
to find out more about their work and aims. The very best of luck to those of you bidding on the item... it's for a great cause.
UPDATE: bidding closed at a healthy £12,600 which will certainly benefit The Syd Barrett Trust nicely.
