Pink Floyd 1968WOW - it's now the 27th YEAR of Brain Damage, your Pink Floyd, David Gilmour, Nick Mason, Syd Barrett, Richard Wright and Roger Waters news resource!

Marking the 50th anniversary of Pink Floyd's iconic 1975 album, a range of Wish You Were Here 50 celebratory editions: deluxe box set, blu-ray, 3LP set, 2CD set and coloured vinyl single LPs came out at the end of last year. Full details here. The LA 1975 concert, recorded by Mike Millard and remastered by Steven Wilson, came out as a standalone item on 4LP for Record Store Day, and 2CD across most of the world.

The stunningly restored and remixed Pink Floyd At Pompeii MCMLXXII on Blu-ray, 2CD, 2LP, DVD, and digital was also released in 2025 - and is NOT to be missed. As is the 4K UltraHD edition out now!

Also last year, celebrating the concerts to coincide with David Gilmour's album, Luck and Strange, cinema/IMAX screenings, and a book, 2Blu-ray, 3DVD, 4LP, 2CD and deluxe box set options were also released and are getting very high praise.

The Nick Mason's Saucerful Of Secrets 2024 Set The Controls tour revealed a band in even better form than the 2022/23 shows which managed to exceed everyone's hopes and expectations! Our sincerest hopes are that they continue, but in the meantime, there's their RSD release, and the earlier live recording from London's Roundhouse on Blu-ray, DVD/2CD, and 2LP which is really excellent.

Of course, Roger Waters read three extracts from his memoirs in October 2023 at the London Palladium, so it might not be too much longer before that is published...he's also working on his new album based around The Bar - we'll let you know as soon as we get all the info! Before all that though is the release of Roger Waters This Is Not A Drill Live In Prague on 4LP vinyl, Blu-ray, DVD, 2CD and digital which is out now.

Preisner interview clarification and Gilmour tickets Print E-mail

Last Thursday (5th January) we reported on an interview with Polish musician Zbigniew Preisner, who has taken care of orchestrations on Pink Floyd guitarist David Gilmour's new album "On An Island". He gave an interesting interview to one of the biggest newspapers in Poland, "Rzeczpospolita".

In the interview he talks of how the collaboration came about, what the album sounds like, and also mentions filming of the recording sessions. David's website - DavidGilmour.com - picked up on this story on the blog pages of the site, and made some clarification of points that Preisner mentioned.

The main thing that excited fans was the comment that "the work in Abbey Road Studios and on Astoria was filmed, probably for DVD purposes."

David's site confirms that some of the sessions were indeed filmed, including Preisner's orchestral sessions, but stated that there are no plans for any DVDs at the moment. Obviously, that is subject to change in the future.

Preisner also mentioned that "David wants to play a gig in Poland in some unusual place to promote his album." The response to that was that there are no plans for a concert in Poland. His site states that "ideas were thrown around about 'one-off' gigs at various locations, but they were impractical and the suggestions came to nought. The scheduled gigs that you see on the live dates pages are all that's planned for now.

TICKET REMINDER

Advance tickets for the two additional UK shows - Bridgewater Hall in Manchester, on 26th May, and Clyde Auditorium in Glasgow, on 27th May - are all sold out now, but for those who want to attend these shows, all is not lost, as the bulk of tickets for these shows go on sale on Friday. Tickets will be on sale from the venues box offices, and from SeeTickets.com (for Glasgow), and www.ticketline.co.uk (for Manchester). We hope, if you are after tickets for these shows, that you are successful.

Turning now to the North American concerts, a reminder that more tickets are to go on sale for all of David’s gigs there. That’s each show in New York, Toronto, Chicago, San Francisco and Los Angeles. These tickets go on sale on Saturday 14th January at 12noon local time, and will sell out quickly, so be prepared for the scramble.

Visit Ticketmaster at www.ticketmaster.com/artist/769001/ for details on how to book your preferred show online. Please note that there’s no internet presale (please ignore the TicketMaster mention of ‘davidgilmour.com’ - it’s not relevant), no fan club to join and no promotional codes to request. Again, good luck getting tickets for these shows...
