save planet rockOne of our favourite radio stations is the award winning UK-based digital radio station, Planet Rock. A very Pink Floyd-friendly station, they've broadcast some unmissable Floyd-related programmes over the last few years, most recently Guy Pratt's in-depth interview of Richard Wright on the 40th anniversary of Piper At The Gates of Dawn. Also, Guy himself has recently got an 11pm-1am show on Friday nights (see the "listen again" link to the right of this story) - a great way to end the week.

However, the station's owners are making some financial cutbacks across the range of interests they have, and if they are not able to secure a buyer, it has been agreed that Planet Rock will close on March 28th. This would be terrible news, and already, many fans of the station (including musicians such as Fish, Rick Wakeman, and Brian May - who has even asked if he can buy it!) have come out in support in the form of feedback, and online petitions, to hopefully save it from closure.

Please visit www.SavePlanetRock.co.uk for more details and to make your voice heard.

UPDATE, March 27th: There is some definite interest in the station being taken over, and while this is investigated, Planet Rock has been given an additional month on air. It will definitely be broadcasting until the end of April now. Let's hope that the station is bought and is kept on air...
