Pink Floyd 1968WOW - it's now the 27th YEAR of Brain Damage, your Pink Floyd, David Gilmour, Nick Mason, Syd Barrett, Richard Wright and Roger Waters news resource!

Marking the 50th anniversary of Pink Floyd's iconic 1975 album, a range of Wish You Were Here 50 celebratory editions: deluxe box set, blu-ray, 3LP set, 2CD set and coloured vinyl single LPs came out at the end of last year. Full details here. The LA 1975 concert, recorded by Mike Millard and remastered by Steven Wilson, came out as a standalone item on 4LP for Record Store Day, and 2CD across most of the world.

The stunningly restored and remixed Pink Floyd At Pompeii MCMLXXII on Blu-ray, 2CD, 2LP, DVD, and digital was also released in 2025 - and is NOT to be missed. As is the 4K UltraHD edition out now!

Also last year, celebrating the concerts to coincide with David Gilmour's album, Luck and Strange, cinema/IMAX screenings, and a book, 2Blu-ray, 3DVD, 4LP, 2CD and deluxe box set options were also released and are getting very high praise.

The Nick Mason's Saucerful Of Secrets 2024 Set The Controls tour revealed a band in even better form than the 2022/23 shows which managed to exceed everyone's hopes and expectations! Our sincerest hopes are that they continue, but in the meantime, there's their RSD release, and the earlier live recording from London's Roundhouse on Blu-ray, DVD/2CD, and 2LP which is really excellent.

Of course, Roger Waters read three extracts from his memoirs in October 2023 at the London Palladium, so it might not be too much longer before that is published...he's also working on his new album based around The Bar - we'll let you know as soon as we get all the info! Before all that though is the release of Roger Waters This Is Not A Drill Live In Prague on 4LP vinyl, Blu-ray, DVD, 2CD and digital which is out now.

Pink Floyd's PULSE DVD & WYWH SACD updates Print E-mail
Written by Matt

Last week, we (along with Col Turner, from our sister site A Fleeting Glimpse) had a meeting with Pink Floyd's management (PFM). In a long discussion that covered much ground (including the Live 8 reunion), we asked what was the latest on the long-anticipated release on DVD of the live concert video, PULSE, and the status of the Wish You Were Here SACD, both of which are keenly awaited (judging by the amount of emails we receive about them each week!).

PULSE DVD
The last we reported was that a rough date of September/October this year was set, for the 2-disc DVD to hit the stores.

When we arrived at PFMs office, coincidentally enough, they were on the phone to James Guthrie, discussing the documentary that is due to be amongst the extras. It appears that there are a few issues with the documentary that need to be ironed out before the discs can be considered finished and ready to press up for an eager public.

They are very aware how sought after this release is, and also want to make sure it is as good as it can be. Whilst they know that many fans would buy it without any extras on, they know that a greater number would demand extras to be present. So whilst the main feature is now ready, the extras just need a little extra work to finish them off.

They are hoping that it can still be released later this year, but in an effort to manage expectations, warn that it is not guaranteed. It may slip into the early part of next year.

It is worth reiterating that any versions of Pulse currently being offered on DVD in various places worldwide, are all fakes. This includes copies that pro port to be official limited edition pressings from a few years back.

WISH YOU WERE HERE - SACD
Work on the full surround mixing of the 1975 album Wish You Were Here is going well. The mix is still being worked on, but is on course for a release soon. Doing any work like this takes time to ensure it is right, and provides the best possible audio experience, but PFM confirm that we are looking at the end of this year for a release of the album in hybrid CD/SACD (Super Audio CD) format, which would nicely tie in with the 30th anniversary of the album.

With James Guthrie at the controls, the quality of this should be very high, and worth waiting for - and the feedback we have had for his work on Dark Side Of The Moon has been uniformly positive.

As and when we have more information on both of these, we will of course let you know... and our thanks to PFM for the update!
