Brain Damage and A Fleeting Glimpse

Pink Floyd 1968WELCOME TO THE 26th YEAR OF BRAIN DAMAGE, YOUR PINK FLOYD, DAVID GILMOUR, NICK MASON, SYD BARRETT, RICHARD WRIGHT AND ROGER WATERS NEWS RESOURCE!

It's 2025! This year sees the 50th anniversary of Wish You Were Here, which is an incredible thought; where does the time go?!

The stunningly restored and remixed Pink Floyd At Pompeii MCMLXXII on Blu-ray, 2CD, 2LP, DVD, digital and cinema screenings are now here - with some more cinema screenings in selected places. However you experience it, it is NOT to be missed!

There's also been three Record Store Day releases released on April 12th, from David Gilmour, Nick Mason's Saucerful Of Secrets, and Roger Waters which are also definitely worth tracking down, either in a participating store, or online, now that RSD has finished.

Last year, David Gilmour's superb new album, Luck and Strange, was released in a variety of formats, and a selection of coloured vinyls. A limited number of concert dates thrilled crowds in Brighton and London, England, Rome, Italy, and Los Angeles and New York, USA. Rome shows were filmed for release at some point...watch this space!

The Nick Mason's Saucerful Of Secrets 2024 Set The Controls tour revealed a band in even better form than the 2022/23 shows which managed to exceed everyone's hopes and expectations! Our sincerest hopes are that they continue, but in the meantime, there's the RSD release, and the earlier live recording from London's Roundhouse on Blu-ray, DVD/2CD, and 2LP which is really excellent.

Of course, Roger Waters read three extracts from his memoirs in October 2023 at the London Palladium, so it might not be too long before that is published...he's also working on his new album based around The Bar - we'll let you know as soon as we get all the info!

Pink Floyd's Echoes - new Mojo Magazine takes a close look Print E-mail

Mojo Magazine, March 2022 front coverThe new issue of the UK's Mojo Magazine (cover date March 2022, issue number 340) includes a feature - "Echoes Then And Now" - focused on Pink Floyd's masterpiece.

In their preview of the issue, Mojo notes that "fifty years since he helped write the song that lit Floyd’s future path, Nick Mason is taking Echoes on the road. But will Roger Waters join him this time?" Their feature promises an in-depth look at the piece, and knowing how Mojo's articles are normally written, it should be a detailed and accurate feature on Echoes.

Elsewhere in the magazine, amongst a wide range of other things, and subject of the cover photo, there's a piece in honour of the recently departed Michael Nesmith of the Monkees – and with the help of an exclusive new Micky Dolenz interview, they celebrate the group once dubbed the Prefab Four and explore the insanity of their 60s rise and fall. Also in the issue is Pearl Jam's Eddie Vedder (with a tribute from his friend, Pete Townshend), a look at Al Green's anthemic Let’s Stay Together, also celebrating its 50th, a Mick Rock feature, Dusty Springfield, Van Der Graaf Generator, and much more.

UPDATE: The feature runs for 11 pages and is a fascinating look back at the genesis of Echoes, fuelled by the memories of Nick Mason and John Leckie, and also includes a look at the recent Saucerful Of Secrets tour rehearsals, revealing more songs that have been plucked from the Floyd back catalogue to perform live once Covid allows! There's also a look at the ill-fated Household Objects project, and some background to the day that Roger Waters joined the Saucers on stage in New York City.

Always a great read, the magazine is due to arrive in UK stores around now, and will be available in selected locations worldwide as an import, in due course. Alternatively, you can order (worldwide) online through the GreatMagazines website which is owned and run by the publishers of Mojo.
