Brain Damage and A Fleeting Glimpse

Pink Floyd 1987WELCOME TO THE 26th YEAR OF BRAIN DAMAGE, YOUR PINK FLOYD, DAVID GILMOUR, NICK MASON, SYD BARRETT, RICHARD WRIGHT AND ROGER WATERS NEWS RESOURCE!

It's 2025! This year sees the 50th anniversary of Wish You Were Here, which is an incredible thought; where does the time go?!

We now know that Pink Floyd At Pompeii MCMLXXII on Blu-ray, 2CD, 2LP, DVD, digital and cinema screenings are on their way, with the releases on May 2nd, and the cinema screenings shortly before. NOT to be missed!

There's also been three Record Store Day releases released on April 12th, from David Gilmour, Nick Mason's Saucerful Of Secrets, and Roger Waters which are also definitely worth tracking down, either in a participating store, or online, now that RSD has finished.

Last year, David Gilmour's superb new album, Luck and Strange, was released in a variety of formats, and a selection of coloured vinyls. A limited number of concert dates thrilled crowds in Brighton and London, England, Rome, Italy, and Los Angeles and New York, USA. Rome shows were filmed for release at some point...watch this space!

The Nick Mason's Saucerful Of Secrets 2024 Set The Controls tour revealed a band in even better form than the 2022/23 shows which managed to exceed everyone's hopes and expectations! Our sincerest hopes are that they continue, but in the meantime, there's the RSD release, and the earlier live recording from London's Roundhouse on Blu-ray, DVD/2CD, and 2LP which is really excellent.

Of course, Roger Waters read three extracts from his memoirs in October 2023 at the London Palladium, so it might not be too long before that is published...he's also working on his new album based around The Bar - we'll let you know as soon as we get all the info!

The German edition of Rolling Stone Magazine this month (issue 205, cover date November 2011) comes with a nice surprise - polybagged with the magazine is a reproduction of Pink Floyd's 1974 UK Winter Tour programme.

For those that haven't seen this before (or the 1975 US Tour programme, which differs only in the cover paper quality, and the price shown in the top right corner), it's a very amusing comic book, full of daring tales and thrills aplenty from the various band members (Nick as a ship's captain, David on his motorbike, etc.). There's also a nice middle-page spread of a Gerald Scarfe caracature of the band in action.

We do not believe this is included in the Immersion set of Wish You Were Here, so provides an affordable way of getting your hands on this gem. The magazine is in German stores now, priced at €6,90. Our thanks to Werner Haider, our friend over at Pulse & Spirit for the info.

UPDATE: Our friends Alain and Sylvain both tell us that the 1974 Tour Programme also comes with the new Hors Série issue of the French magazine "Inrockuptibles", which has the title "Pink Floyd, la grande odyssée". The magazine features some nice, and seemingly unusual pictures of the band, although the accompanying text is said to be not exactly complimentary to Pink Floyd! The magazine is available now, priced at €8. The 1974 Tour Comic was also published in Slovakia, Jakub tells us. It was included in last week's print of weekly paper Týdeň.

Further UPDATE: Our friends in Italy should keep an eye out on November 3rd, as that day's issue of Panorama has the Tour Book as a giveaway on that day.
