Brain Damage and A Fleeting Glimpse

Pink Floyd 1987WELCOME TO THE 26th YEAR OF BRAIN DAMAGE, YOUR PINK FLOYD, DAVID GILMOUR, NICK MASON, SYD BARRETT, RICHARD WRIGHT AND ROGER WATERS NEWS RESOURCE!

It's 2025! This year sees the 50th anniversary of Wish You Were Here, which is an incredible thought; where does the time go?!

We now know that Pink Floyd At Pompeii MCMLXXII on Blu-ray, 2CD, 2LP, DVD, digital and cinema screenings are on their way, with the releases on May 2nd, and the cinema screenings shortly before. NOT to be missed!

There's also been three Record Store Day releases released on April 12th, from David Gilmour, Nick Mason's Saucerful Of Secrets, and Roger Waters which are also definitely worth tracking down, either in a participating store, or online, now that RSD has finished.

Last year, David Gilmour's superb new album, Luck and Strange, was released in a variety of formats, and a selection of coloured vinyls. A limited number of concert dates thrilled crowds in Brighton and London, England, Rome, Italy, and Los Angeles and New York, USA. Rome shows were filmed for release at some point...watch this space!

The Nick Mason's Saucerful Of Secrets 2024 Set The Controls tour revealed a band in even better form than the 2022/23 shows which managed to exceed everyone's hopes and expectations! Our sincerest hopes are that they continue, but in the meantime, there's the RSD release, and the earlier live recording from London's Roundhouse on Blu-ray, DVD/2CD, and 2LP which is really excellent.

Of course, Roger Waters read three extracts from his memoirs in October 2023 at the London Palladium, so it might not be too long before that is published...he's also working on his new album based around The Bar - we'll let you know as soon as we get all the info!

Interstellar Overdrive - Pink Floyd - 2017 Record Store Day 12

Celebrating its tenth anniversary next month, Record Store Day 2017 hits independent record stores on April 22nd, with a special Pink Floyd release. RSD offers limited run pressings, available for one day only through independent record stores.

The item in question is a 12", single-sided 180-gram pressing, with an otherwise unreleased version of Interstellar Overdrive. This was recorded at the Thompson Private Recording Company in Hemel Hempstead, Hertfordshire, in October 1966, and used in Anthony Stern's film 'San Francisco'. It's a mono recording, around fifteen minutes long, and housed in special packaging.

As with all Record Store Day releases, it will not be available online (other than inevitably on eBay from the morning of April 18th) but while stocks last in participating independent record stores. Be prepared to get to your local store prior to opening, and be ready to queue!

There are a lot of independent stores that participate in Record Store Day. Not all of them will choose to participate in all promotions, or carry all releases. Just because a store is listed on the RSD website does NOT mean it will have the goodie or record you're looking for. That said, find a store near you and check with them directly. They won't hold an item aside for you, but at least you'll know if it will be worth the trip!
