Pink Floyd 1968WOW - it's now the 27th YEAR of Brain Damage, your Pink Floyd, David Gilmour, Nick Mason, Syd Barrett, Richard Wright and Roger Waters news resource!

Marking the 50th anniversary of Pink Floyd's iconic 1975 album, a range of Wish You Were Here 50 celebratory editions: deluxe box set, blu-ray, 3LP set, 2CD set and coloured vinyl single LPs came out at the end of last year. Full details here. The LA 1975 concert, recorded by Mike Millard and remastered by Steven Wilson, came out as a standalone item on 4LP for Record Store Day, and 2CD across most of the world.

The stunningly restored and remixed Pink Floyd At Pompeii MCMLXXII on Blu-ray, 2CD, 2LP, DVD, and digital was also released in 2025 - and is NOT to be missed. As is the 4K UltraHD edition out now!

Also last year, celebrating the concerts to coincide with David Gilmour's album, Luck and Strange, cinema/IMAX screenings, and a book, 2Blu-ray, 3DVD, 4LP, 2CD and deluxe box set options were also released and are getting very high praise.

The Nick Mason's Saucerful Of Secrets 2024 Set The Controls tour revealed a band in even better form than the 2022/23 shows which managed to exceed everyone's hopes and expectations! Our sincerest hopes are that they continue, but in the meantime, there's their RSD release, and the earlier live recording from London's Roundhouse on Blu-ray, DVD/2CD, and 2LP which is really excellent.

Of course, Roger Waters read three extracts from his memoirs in October 2023 at the London Palladium, so it might not be too much longer before that is published...he's also working on his new album based around The Bar - we'll let you know as soon as we get all the info! Before all that though is the release of Roger Waters This Is Not A Drill Live In Prague on 4LP vinyl, Blu-ray, DVD, 2CD and digital which is out now.

Pink Floyd in Nederland book

On November 13th, 2017 - exactly fifty years after Pink Floyd's only concert in the Netherlands with Syd Barrett - the new book, Pink Floyd In Nederland (Pink Floyd in The Netherlands) will be available via Permafrost Publishers.

Pink Floyd In Nederland is the story of fifty years of Pink Floyd in the low countries. Charles Beterams unveils the full story of The Netherlands in the development of Pink Floyd. Written in chronological terms, featuring unique and unprecedented photographs, remarkable facts and special eye-witness reports of those involved in Holland, Pink Floyd In Nederland tells the full story of the legendary English group from a unique Dutch perspective.

What happened before the concert in Apeldoorn 1968 that ended with the police questioning the venue owner and Pink Floyd's roadie? What caused all the hassles of the forgotten Paradiso concert in 1969? Did Syd Barrett ever visit The Netherlands as a solo artist for VPRO's Piknik in 1970? What about that meet-up between Roger Waters and the now King and Queen of The Netherlands in Arnhem on April 8th, 2011?

The assumption that The Netherlands is important in those first years of Pink Floyd is evident from the many concerts found in The Early Years 1965-1972 box set. In addition to the VPRO recorded concerts in Amsterdam, there have been gigs in places like Heesch, Vlissingen, Bussum, Terneuzen, Groningen, Weesp, Maastricht and Nijmegen. After the great breakthrough of the seventies, Pink Floyd only sporadically visited the Netherlands, including the tour to promote Animals in 1977. There were also sold out concerts after the comeback in the late 1980s in Rotterdam and Nijmegen. In recent years, David Gilmour and Roger Waters again regularly visited the lowlands.

The full-colour 256-page hardcover book is an updated and expanded successor of Pink Floyd In De Polder, of which the Dutch press said that it was "a must-have on the bookshelf of anyone who is a Pink Floyd fan, or interested in the history of pop music in The Netherlands"(MusicMaker), and "Excellent, deep-digging..." (Oor).

In addition to a regular edition with a picture of the first promotional visit to The Netherlands in April 1967, there are two limited editions with an Ahoy Rotterdam 1971 and Goffertpark Nijmegen 1989 cover. Each of these are printed in an edition of only 100 pieces and exclusively available through FloydStuff.com. Complete sets are available with discounted shipping rates.

In addition to the presentation of the book, there's to be a musical theatre documentary on fifty years of Pink Floyd in The Netherlands, being held in places where Pink Floyd played the past fifty years, with live music from The Use Of Ashes, rare images and stories from the book. For more information, see the events on the dedicated Facebook page. The book will be officially presented during the Mega Record & CD Fair in Utrecht on November 11th, 2017.
