Brain Damage and A Fleeting Glimpse

Pink Floyd 1968WELCOME TO THE 26th YEAR OF BRAIN DAMAGE, YOUR PINK FLOYD, DAVID GILMOUR, NICK MASON, SYD BARRETT, RICHARD WRIGHT AND ROGER WATERS NEWS RESOURCE!

It's 2025! This year sees the 50th anniversary of Wish You Were Here, which is an incredible thought; where does the time go?!

The stunningly restored and remixed Pink Floyd At Pompeii MCMLXXII on Blu-ray, 2CD, 2LP, DVD, digital and cinema screenings are now here - with some more cinema screenings in selected places. However you experience it, it is NOT to be missed!

There's also been three Record Store Day releases released on April 12th, from David Gilmour, Nick Mason's Saucerful Of Secrets, and Roger Waters which are also definitely worth tracking down, either in a participating store, or online, now that RSD has finished.

Last year, David Gilmour's superb new album, Luck and Strange, was released in a variety of formats, and a selection of coloured vinyls. A limited number of concert dates thrilled crowds in Brighton and London, England, Rome, Italy, and Los Angeles and New York, USA. Rome shows were filmed for release at some point...watch this space!

The Nick Mason's Saucerful Of Secrets 2024 Set The Controls tour revealed a band in even better form than the 2022/23 shows which managed to exceed everyone's hopes and expectations! Our sincerest hopes are that they continue, but in the meantime, there's the RSD release, and the earlier live recording from London's Roundhouse on Blu-ray, DVD/2CD, and 2LP which is really excellent.

Of course, Roger Waters read three extracts from his memoirs in October 2023 at the London Palladium, so it might not be too long before that is published...he's also working on his new album based around The Bar - we'll let you know as soon as we get all the info! Before all that though is the release of Roger Waters This Is Not A Drill Live In Prague on 4LP vinyl, Blu-ray, DVD, 2CD and digital on August 1st!

Nick Mason's "Inside Out" book/audiobook news Print E-mail

We last told you about the paperback and audiobook CD of Nick Mason's excellent book, "Inside Out: A Personal History of Pink Floyd", back on 14th June, which are both due for release next month.

Nick Mason is doing the final mix of the CD this week, so at last we can come out with the inside story for you!

Nick has been fully and enthusiastically involved throughout the production of the audio version of Inside Out. As well as enjoying recording his reading of the book, he has added a typically Floydian flourish to proceedings. As he says, "To fit the book on the CDs we had to lose a couple of jokes, so we’ve added a lot of funny noises instead!"

The chapters have been linked together by short montages which blend Nick’s selection from the sound and musical effects on Pink Floyd’s albums with additional, new sound FX, including Nick's beloved Ferrari 250GTO.

The use of these effects has been a trademark of all Floyd albums, from the radio voices on Astronomy Domine from their debut album The Piper At The Gates Of Dawn to the heartbeat that opens The Dark Side Of The Moon and the peals of bells on The Division Bell.

For once we can genuinely say this is an audiobook that comes complete with bells and whistles – not to mention some Arctic winds, Venetian canals, telephones, aeroplanes and a squealing pig or two!

This audiobook brings us right up to date with Nick's personal view of the band's reunion with Roger Waters for Live8. The whole package comes as 3 CDs, with a 32-page booklet of photographs, in a special collector's pack, priced at £15.99, and will be released on 6 October.

The paperback of Inside Out, also updated with Live8 recollections, will be published at the same time, price £9.99.

The addition of the Live8 reunion section will make both items very tempting propositions, even if the original book is already owned. Advance orders for the book are being taken now through our special Amazon links. With regard to the audiobook, this is available from Amazon UK on CD or Cassette, Amazon Canada on CD or Cassette, Amazon Germany on CD or Cassette, and Amazon France on CD or Cassette. Any items ordered from Amazon after entering their site from one of our special links, helps towards running costs of our site, and we appreciate it!

Our thanks to Elizabeth and Alexa at the publishers, Orion, for their continued help.
