Nick Mason's great new book "Inside Out - A Personal History Of Pink Floyd" is selling well in various countries, and is now available in the US. To coincide with this, Nick underwent an exhaustive round of interviews and book signings, and here is our report on the third city that Nick visited - Los Angeles, California.

My son and I went to the book signing in Hollywood from our homes in Orange County. We arrived just after noon and purchased our books and got in the line outside. There were about sixty people ahead of us. Several hundred more fans showed up after us. Most people were dressed in their Pink Floyd togs and they all seemed excited to see one of the Floyd.

The signing started about ten minutes early. We were told when we bought the books that he would only sign one and that he would sign no memorabilia. However the signing itself was handled most efficiently and Nick signed both books I purchased.

He seemed happy to be there and he was very pleasant. I think the crowd size was amazing because there had been no local publicity about the event. I'd like to thank Brain Damage for the heads up!

Here's a review of today's signing at Virgin Megastore on the Sunset Strip in Los Angeles. I arrived at 1:15 pm for the 2 PM (Pacific Standard Time) book signing, and the line already wrapped around the building and across the street. It had to be a few hundred people long and growing.

The line moved rapidly and I had the book signed by 2:45. Nick was very friendly and signed extra items for people (he signed Relics LP and Ficticious Sports Cover as well as the book, for me). He was willing to sign with or without personalizing it. He even allowed us get behind the table for a picture which I have included.

I am a 34 year old fan of 20 years and was nervous, but managed to ask him if he hopes or plans to release any archival live material from the 60's and he responded very positively, "yes" and said that these things "take time" which is excellent news! He shook my hand and smiled.

All in all a thrilling day. Since I have been a fan (from 1985) I have no recollection of any band member's being available for a meet and greet in Los Angeles. This was a first!
