Pink Floyd 1968 WOW - it's now the 27th YEAR of Brain Damage, your Pink Floyd, David Gilmour, Nick Mason, Syd Barrett, Richard Wright and Roger Waters news resource!

Marking the 50th anniversary of Pink Floyd's iconic 1975 album, a range of Wish You Were Here 50 celebratory editions: deluxe box set, blu-ray, 3LP set, 2CD set and coloured vinyl single LPs came out at the end of last year. Full details here. The LA 1975 concert, recorded by Mike Millard and remastered by Steven Wilson, came out as a standalone item on 4LP for Record Store Day, and 2CD across most of the world.

The stunningly restored and remixed Pink Floyd At Pompeii MCMLXXII on Blu-ray, 2CD, 2LP, DVD, and digital was also released in 2025 - and is NOT to be missed. As is the 4K UltraHD edition out now!

Also last year, celebrating the concerts to coincide with David Gilmour's album, Luck and Strange, cinema/IMAX screenings, and a book, 2Blu-ray, 3DVD, 4LP, 2CD and deluxe box set options were also released and are getting very high praise.

The Nick Mason's Saucerful Of Secrets 2024 Set The Controls tour revealed a band in even better form than the 2022/23 shows which managed to exceed everyone's hopes and expectations! Our sincerest hopes are that they continue, but in the meantime, there's their RSD release, and the earlier live recording from London's Roundhouse on Blu-ray, DVD/2CD, and 2LP which is really excellent.

Of course, Roger Waters read three extracts from his memoirs in October 2023 at the London Palladium, so it might not be too much longer before that is published...he's also working on his new album based around The Bar - we'll let you know as soon as we get all the info! Before all that though is the release of Roger Waters This Is Not A Drill Live In Prague on 4LP vinyl, Blu-ray, DVD, 2CD and digital which is out now.

Nick Mason talks about Pink Floyd's history

Written by Matt

Monday, 13 September 2004

The line-up for the 42nd Belfast Festival has been announced, and includes an evening event with Nick Mason, talking about life in Pink Floyd and the band's history.

Part of the "Sounds" set of events, the talk forms part of the promotion for his forthcoming and much anticipated book, "INSIDE OUT", which is released in October in Europe (and in Spring 2005 in the US). The Festival promotional literature quotes the following for the event:

One of the most fascinating rock bands ever, Pink Floyd was formed in 1965. The band hardly needs any introduction but the 1980s saw a rift develop between the band members which culminated in law suits. Only recently have there been reconciliations which have allowed founder member Nick Mason to write the definitive history of the band. In this special event, Mason will give fans a unique insight into Pink Floyd in the company of BBC Northern Ireland’s Ralph McLean.

The event takes part at 8pm on November 1st, at Belfast's Elmwood Hall. Tickets are already selling extremely quickly for this - helped in part for the fact that there are only 500 seats available, and tickets are a rock-bottom £5 (approximately $9) each! If you intend going to this event, we urge you to pick up your tickets soon, before they all go. It promises to be a great evening!

More details of the event can be found at the Belfast Festival website.

The Belfast Festival at Queen's is the largest festival of its kind in Ireland, and brings the best of international art to Belfast and brings international attention to the city's dynamic arts practitioners.

The Festival covers all art forms including theatre, dance, classical music, literature, jazz, comedy, visual arts, folk music and popular music, attracting over 50,000 visitors. And at least 500 Pink Floyd fans too!

In the meantime, Amazon are offering a very special pre-release deal on Nick's book, with a hefty discount at time of writing this.

Our thanks to Phil for tipping us off about this great event. Watch for our report of the event, which should be on the site a day or so after...
