Pink Floyd 1968WOW - it's now the 27th YEAR of Brain Damage, your Pink Floyd, David Gilmour, Nick Mason, Syd Barrett, Richard Wright and Roger Waters news resource!

Marking the 50th anniversary of Pink Floyd's iconic 1975 album, a range of Wish You Were Here 50 celebratory editions: deluxe box set, blu-ray, 3LP set, 2CD set and coloured vinyl single LPs came out at the end of last year. Full details here. The LA 1975 concert, recorded by Mike Millard and remastered by Steven Wilson, came out as a standalone item on 4LP for Record Store Day, and 2CD across most of the world.

The stunningly restored and remixed Pink Floyd At Pompeii MCMLXXII on Blu-ray, 2CD, 2LP, DVD, and digital was also released in 2025 - and is NOT to be missed. As is the 4K UltraHD edition out now!

Also last year, celebrating the concerts to coincide with David Gilmour's album, Luck and Strange, cinema/IMAX screenings, and a book, 2Blu-ray, 3DVD, 4LP, 2CD and deluxe box set options were also released and are getting very high praise.

The Nick Mason's Saucerful Of Secrets 2024 Set The Controls tour revealed a band in even better form than the 2022/23 shows which managed to exceed everyone's hopes and expectations! Our sincerest hopes are that they continue, but in the meantime, there's their RSD release, and the earlier live recording from London's Roundhouse on Blu-ray, DVD/2CD, and 2LP which is really excellent.

Of course, Roger Waters read three extracts from his memoirs in October 2023 at the London Palladium, so it might not be too much longer before that is published...he's also working on his new album based around The Bar - we'll let you know as soon as we get all the info! Before all that though is the release of Roger Waters This Is Not A Drill Live In Prague on 4LP vinyl, Blu-ray, DVD, 2CD and digital which is out now.

Nick Mason interview doesn't rule out another tour Print E-mail

At the end of last week, Pink Floyd drummer Nick Mason was interviewed for the UK's Teletext service. This is part of the ITV television network, and is a text-based precursor to the Internet, being broadcast alongside the TV signals, and viewable on most TVs in the UK.

The interview, by Alistair Clay, seems to contradict most of the other recent interviews undertaken by Nick. Starting with the assertion that "rock veterans Pink Floyd will regroup to record new material, predicts drummer Nick Mason", he is quoted as saying:

"We're not working on any new material at the moment but there is stuff already written that we will take a look at. Our next project is to put together a DVD of the band and then promote that, but we will tour again, just not quite yet."

Nick then talks about Syd Barrett:

"Syd's mental state meant there was no way he could function in a working band, and at the time we found that very frustrating. I don't think it was the rock lifestyle that got to Syd, I think he was naturally prone to schizophrenia. The last I heard about Syd was from about 12 months ago and he was getting the care he needed from people who were looking after him."

On his "charmed" life: "To be ridiculously overpaid to show off for 40 years has been amazing, and it would be churlish to say otherwise. There have been few downsides. And I'm sure we're not finished yet. If you haven't grown out of it by the time you're 50 then there's no hope."

On The Beatles, and Ringo Starr: "Ringo was perfect for The Beatles, so I'm not trying to take anything away from him, but I wanted to be like Keith Moon and Ginger Baker, drummers who really drove the band and were up there at the front; I didn't want to be stuck at the back in the shadows."

On Pink Floyd's influence of current bands: "I love bands such as Radiohead and U2. If people say that we had a hand in influencing them then great. People are too quick sometimes to say the current music scene is rubbish, there are still some great bands around."

Our thanks to Adam who spotted the interview on Teletext's Star Talk pages, and let us know about it, along with his screen captures.
