Brain Damage and A Fleeting Glimpse

Pink Floyd 1968WELCOME TO THE 26th YEAR OF BRAIN DAMAGE, YOUR PINK FLOYD, DAVID GILMOUR, NICK MASON, SYD BARRETT, RICHARD WRIGHT AND ROGER WATERS NEWS RESOURCE!

It's 2025! This year sees the 50th anniversary of Wish You Were Here, which is an incredible thought; where does the time go?!

The stunningly restored and remixed Pink Floyd At Pompeii MCMLXXII on Blu-ray, 2CD, 2LP, DVD, digital and cinema screenings are now here - with some more cinema screenings in selected places. However you experience it, it is NOT to be missed!

There's also been three Record Store Day releases released on April 12th, from David Gilmour, Nick Mason's Saucerful Of Secrets, and Roger Waters which are also definitely worth tracking down, either in a participating store, or online, now that RSD has finished.

Last year, David Gilmour's superb new album, Luck and Strange, was released in a variety of formats, and a selection of coloured vinyls. A limited number of concert dates thrilled crowds in Brighton and London, England, Rome, Italy, and Los Angeles and New York, USA. Rome shows were filmed for release at some point...watch this space!

The Nick Mason's Saucerful Of Secrets 2024 Set The Controls tour revealed a band in even better form than the 2022/23 shows which managed to exceed everyone's hopes and expectations! Our sincerest hopes are that they continue, but in the meantime, there's the RSD release, and the earlier live recording from London's Roundhouse on Blu-ray, DVD/2CD, and 2LP which is really excellent.

Of course, Roger Waters read three extracts from his memoirs in October 2023 at the London Palladium, so it might not be too long before that is published...he's also working on his new album based around The Bar - we'll let you know as soon as we get all the info! Before all that though is the release of Roger Waters This Is Not A Drill Live In Prague on 4LP vinyl, Blu-ray, DVD, 2CD and digital on August 1st!

Nick Mason "Inside Out" book/audiobook news Print E-mail

We have an interesting update for you on Nick Mason's excellent book, "Inside Out: A Personal History of Pink Floyd". We brought you news of an audiobook on March 8th, and a week later, news of a re-designed paperback edition for the European market, on March 14th.

We heard late this afternoon from the publishers that Nick will be writing a new section covering the forthcoming Live 8 concert in London for inclusion in the paperback edition, which will also include pictures from the concert.

The audiobook will contain a bonus track, with Nick talking about the concert, and how the reunion happened.

Both will be released on October 6th. The paperback is going to be a smaller, more conventional size (akin to a novel), and will concentrate more on the text. The hardback edition will still be the one to get for the pictures, but the paperback will be far easier to read on the bus! Also, the price is a third of the hardback.

The audiobook will feature an abridged version of the book, read by Nick himself. Nick hasn't recorded the reading yet, and is not expected to do this for another few months. He is still finishing off the abridgement work on the text.

The audiobook is expected to clock in around the three hour mark, being released on 3 CDs. Whilst we expect that there will be snippets of music included, either in the background during key sequences, or between "chapters", the publishers cannot confirm this yet, as this is a licencing issue which is still being decided on.

The audiobook, we were told, will be released in "luxury packaging" which will include a 32-page booklet.

The addition of the Live 8 reunion section will make both items very tempting propositions, even if the original book is already owned.

Advance orders for the book are being taken now by Amazon UK, Amazon Canada, Amazon France, and Amazon Germany.

With regard to the audiobook, this is available from on Amazon UK, Amazon Canada, Amazon Germany, or Amazon France. Any items ordered from Amazon after entering their site from one of our special links, helps towards running costs of our site, and we appreciate it!

Our thanks to Elizabeth and Alexa at the publishers, Orion, for their continued help.
