Pink Floyd 1968WOW - it's now the 27th YEAR of Brain Damage, your Pink Floyd, David Gilmour, Nick Mason, Syd Barrett, Richard Wright and Roger Waters news resource!

Marking the 50th anniversary of Pink Floyd's iconic 1975 album, a range of Wish You Were Here 50 celebratory editions: deluxe box set, blu-ray, 3LP set, 2CD set and coloured vinyl single LPs came out at the end of last year. Full details here. The LA 1975 concert, recorded by Mike Millard and remastered by Steven Wilson, came out as a standalone item on 4LP for Record Store Day, and 2CD across most of the world.

The stunningly restored and remixed Pink Floyd At Pompeii MCMLXXII on Blu-ray, 2CD, 2LP, DVD, and digital was also released in 2025 - and is NOT to be missed. As is the 4K UltraHD edition out now!

Also last year, celebrating the concerts to coincide with David Gilmour's album, Luck and Strange, cinema/IMAX screenings, and a book, 2Blu-ray, 3DVD, 4LP, 2CD and deluxe box set options were also released and are getting very high praise.

The Nick Mason's Saucerful Of Secrets 2024 Set The Controls tour revealed a band in even better form than the 2022/23 shows which managed to exceed everyone's hopes and expectations! Our sincerest hopes are that they continue, but in the meantime, there's their RSD release, and the earlier live recording from London's Roundhouse on Blu-ray, DVD/2CD, and 2LP which is really excellent.

Of course, Roger Waters read three extracts from his memoirs in October 2023 at the London Palladium, so it might not be too much longer before that is published...he's also working on his new album based around The Bar - we'll let you know as soon as we get all the info! Before all that though is the release of Roger Waters This Is Not A Drill Live In Prague on 4LP vinyl, Blu-ray, DVD, 2CD and digital which is out now.

Nick Mason driving at this weekend's Formula 1 event Print E-mail

This weekend sees the first round of the 2006 Formula One Grand Prix Championship. As part of the first race, being held in Bahrain, Nick Mason takes a break from Pink Floyd-related activity to participate in one of the support races at the event.

The race is a "Pro-Celebrity" event, and features an interesting line-up which includes the likes of Nick, Status Quo's Rick Parfitt, five-time Olympic gold medallist Sir Steve Redgrave, Boris Becker, Lance Armstrong and Michael Johnson with professional drivers such as Martin Brundle, Johnny Herbert and Williams' Narain Karthikeyan, taking the wheel of sixteen Chevrolet V8 SS Luminas.

With 380-horsepower, the cars won’t be too easy for some of the racing novices to handle, so each celebrity will be partnered by an accomplished race driver.

There will be two races: one on the Saturday and one on Sunday before the Bahrain Grand Prix. Each ten-lap event will consist of 16 cars with the professional drivers driving the first five laps. They will then pit to hand over to their celebrity partners for the remainder of the race.

Commenting on the race Nick Mason said: "I could hardly believe the invitation when it arrived... see what promises to be one of the best GPs for some time, drive a seriously exciting race car in the shape of the 5 litre V8 Lumina, and escape the British winter! Not only that, but compete against one of my heroes in the shape of Sir Steve Redgrave. I may have some motor racing experience, but I suspect anyone who has quite so many gold medals is unlikely to head out onto one of the most sophisticated of all Grand Prix circuits for a gentle meander around!"

Here's the schedule for the Pro-Celebrity Challenge:

  • Thursday 9th March
    3:15pm - 4pm - Track Familiarisation

  • Friday 10th March
    12:30pm - 1pm - First Practice Session
    4:20pm - 4:50pm - Second Practice Session

  • Saturday 11th March
    4:45pm - 5:30pm - FIRST RACE (10 laps)

  • Sunday 12th March
    11:15am - 11:45am - SECOND RACE (10 laps)

Our thanks to Pete Johnson and Tomas Ordonez-Saenz for their help with this info.
