Brain Damage and A Fleeting Glimpse

Pink Floyd 1987WELCOME TO THE 26th YEAR OF BRAIN DAMAGE, YOUR PINK FLOYD, DAVID GILMOUR, NICK MASON, SYD BARRETT, RICHARD WRIGHT AND ROGER WATERS NEWS RESOURCE!

It's 2025! This year sees the 50th anniversary of Wish You Were Here, which is an incredible thought; where does the time go?!

We now know that Pink Floyd At Pompeii MCMLXXII on Blu-ray, 2CD, 2LP, DVD, digital and cinema screenings are on their way, with the releases on May 2nd, and the cinema screenings shortly before. NOT to be missed!

There's also been three Record Store Day releases released on April 12th, from David Gilmour, Nick Mason's Saucerful Of Secrets, and Roger Waters which are also definitely worth tracking down, either in a participating store, or online, now that RSD has finished.

Last year, David Gilmour's superb new album, Luck and Strange, was released in a variety of formats, and a selection of coloured vinyls. A limited number of concert dates thrilled crowds in Brighton and London, England, Rome, Italy, and Los Angeles and New York, USA. Rome shows were filmed for release at some point...watch this space!

The Nick Mason's Saucerful Of Secrets 2024 Set The Controls tour revealed a band in even better form than the 2022/23 shows which managed to exceed everyone's hopes and expectations! Our sincerest hopes are that they continue, but in the meantime, there's the RSD release, and the earlier live recording from London's Roundhouse on Blu-ray, DVD/2CD, and 2LP which is really excellent.

Of course, Roger Waters read three extracts from his memoirs in October 2023 at the London Palladium, so it might not be too long before that is published...he's also working on his new album based around The Bar - we'll let you know as soon as we get all the info!

The Last MimzyRoger Waters has recorded a new song - "Hello (I Love You)" - to be featured in New Line Cinema's upcoming sci-fi film "The Last Mimzy" (to be released across the US on March 23rd). Waters collaborated with Academy Award-winning composer Howard Shore ("The Lord of the Rings" trilogy) and Grammy Award-winning Pink Floyd producer James Guthrie ("The Wall") on the song.

A sci-fi drama based on a classic Lewis Padgett short story, 'Mimzy' tells the story of two young siblings who discover a box of highly sophisticated toys which empower them with a series of remarkable abilities. The cast includes Timothy Hutton ("Ordinary People," "General's Daughter"), Joely Richardson ("The Patriot," "Nip/Tuck"), and Rainn Wilson ("The Office").

the last mimzyOf his participation in the soundtrack, Waters said: "It has been great collaborating with (director) Bob Shaye and Howard Shore on 'The Last Mimzy,'. I think together we've come up with a song that captures the themes of the movie, the clash between humanity's best and worst instincts, and how a child's innocence can win the day."

Shaye added, "It's an honor to have a huge talent like Roger Waters contribute a song to 'The Last Mimzy.'"

A warm, midtempo song inspired by the film's theme of the delicate balance between ecology and technology, "Hello (I Love You)" will be featured in the film and will run over the end credits. The six and a half minute song will be available on New Line Records' official soundtrack for "The Last Mimzy," which is scheduled for a spring release. We should have ordering details of this for you soon.

"Hello (I Love You)" was co-written by Waters and Shore, co-produced and engineered by Waters, Shore and Guthrie, and executive produced by New Line Cinema's President of Music Paul Broucek. The song was performed by an A-list team of musicians including drummer Steve Gadd (Eric Clapton, Paul Simon, Steely Dan), guitarist Gerry Leonard (music director/guitarist for David Bowie), and Waters on bass and vocals. Additionally, "The Last Mimzy's" 6-year-old star Rhiannon Leigh Wryn appears on the track, singing along with Waters on the song's chorus.
