Brain Damage and A Fleeting Glimpse

Pink Floyd 1987WELCOME TO THE 26th YEAR OF BRAIN DAMAGE, YOUR PINK FLOYD, DAVID GILMOUR, NICK MASON, SYD BARRETT, RICHARD WRIGHT AND ROGER WATERS NEWS RESOURCE!

It's 2025! This year sees the 50th anniversary of Wish You Were Here, which is an incredible thought; where does the time go?!

We now know that Pink Floyd At Pompeii MCMLXXII on Blu-ray, 2CD, 2LP, DVD, digital and cinema screenings are on their way, with the releases on May 2nd, and the cinema screenings shortly before. NOT to be missed!

There's also been three Record Store Day releases released on April 12th, from David Gilmour, Nick Mason's Saucerful Of Secrets, and Roger Waters which are also definitely worth tracking down, either in a participating store, or online, now that RSD has finished.

Last year, David Gilmour's superb new album, Luck and Strange, was released in a variety of formats, and a selection of coloured vinyls. A limited number of concert dates thrilled crowds in Brighton and London, England, Rome, Italy, and Los Angeles and New York, USA. Rome shows were filmed for release at some point...watch this space!

The Nick Mason's Saucerful Of Secrets 2024 Set The Controls tour revealed a band in even better form than the 2022/23 shows which managed to exceed everyone's hopes and expectations! Our sincerest hopes are that they continue, but in the meantime, there's the RSD release, and the earlier live recording from London's Roundhouse on Blu-ray, DVD/2CD, and 2LP which is really excellent.

Of course, Roger Waters read three extracts from his memoirs in October 2023 at the London Palladium, so it might not be too long before that is published...he's also working on his new album based around The Bar - we'll let you know as soon as we get all the info!

New Eric Clapton album features two Roger Waters guitarists Print E-mail

The new album from Eric Clapton, due for release on March 22nd in the UK and Europe, and March 30th in the US, includes the talents of a couple of integral members of Roger Waters' band - guitarists Andy Fairweather-Low and Doyle Bramhall II.

"Me And Mr Johnson" features Clapton renditions of fourteen of the twenty-nine songs written and recorded by the legendary Mississippi blues master Robert Johnson over the course of his brief career in the 1930s. Clapton: "His music is like my oldest friend, always in the back of my head, and on the horizon. It is the finest music I have ever heard. I have always trusted its purity, and I always will."

Brain Damage has been given a sneak preview of the album, and it shows Clapton and his talented band at the height of their powers - evoking the 1930s of Johnson and his recordings, with a 21st century edge. The recording in places is fairly rough, in an attempt to sound like Johnson's vintage tracks - but sounds all the better for this attempt at authenticity. Andy Fairweather-Low and Doyle Bramhall II's contributions can be heard supplementing EC's soulful playing throughout.

Clapton is touring the album, and apart from Andy FL, the whole band is accompanying him on the road. Andy was initially thought to be included on the tour, but is now confirmed as not appearing, sadly. Included as part of the tour is Clapton's now normal residency at London's Royal Albert Hall. Doyle and Andy have both toured at length with Roger Waters, and Clapton himself provided guitar duties on Roger's Pros and Cons Of Hitchhiking Tour, and of course, the album itself...
