WOW - it's now the 27th YEAR of Brain Damage, your Pink Floyd, David Gilmour, Nick Mason, Syd Barrett, Richard Wright and Roger Waters news resource!
Marking the 50th anniversary of Pink Floyd's iconic 1975 album, a range of Wish You Were Here 50 celebratory editions: deluxe box set, blu-ray, 3LP set, 2CD set and coloured vinyl single LPs came out at the end of last year. Full details here. The LA 1975 concert, recorded by Mike Millard and remastered by Steven Wilson, came out as a standalone item on 4LP for Record Store Day, and 2CD across most of the world.
The stunningly restored and remixed Pink Floyd At Pompeii MCMLXXII on Blu-ray, 2CD, 2LP, DVD, and digital was also released in 2025 - and is NOT to be missed. As is the 4K UltraHD edition out now!
Also last year, celebrating the concerts to coincide with David Gilmour's album, Luck and Strange, cinema/IMAX screenings, and a book, 2Blu-ray, 3DVD, 4LP, 2CD and deluxe box set options were also released and are getting very high praise.
The Nick Mason's Saucerful Of Secrets 2024 Set The Controls tour revealed a band in even better form than the 2022/23 shows which managed to exceed everyone's hopes and expectations! Our sincerest hopes are that they continue, but in the meantime, there's their RSD release, and the earlier live recording from London's Roundhouse on Blu-ray, DVD/2CD, and 2LP which is really excellent.
Of course, Roger Waters read three extracts from his memoirs in October 2023 at the London Palladium, so it might not be too much longer before that is published...he's also working on his new album based around The Bar - we'll let you know as soon as we get all the info! Before all that though is the release of Roger Waters This Is Not A Drill Live In Prague on 4LP vinyl, Blu-ray, DVD, 2CD and digital which is out now.

Plenty more news of vintage Pink
Floyd radio performances and interviews with David Gilmour, to coincide
with his current tour, for you all.
First off, whilst David was in
Canada, he undertook an interview with CBC - the Canadian Broadcast
Corporation - for a show called "The Hour". The interviewer George
Stroumboulopoulos is a highly regarded journalist in Canada, and his
chat with Gilmour is an interesting look at the man, the music, and his
life.

| David Gilmour on CBC, April 2006 |
Stroumboulopoulos is known for
his knack of getting some different aspects of his subject to the
surface, and certainly his questioning of David is interesting, and
keeps away from the obvious questions.
The uncut version of the interview, running for some twelve minutes, can be seen by visiting www.cbc.ca/thehour.
Scroll down the page until you see David and the link to his interview.
Our thanks to YOP/Johannes Hage and Brent Ingalls for the info.
On April 11th, David Gilmour
called up WMMR Radio and talked with Pierre about his new album, "On An
Island", and the future of Pink Floyd during an hour long Pink Floyd
special. An edited version of the interview (basically, missing the
music) can be downloaded through the following link at www.gmppodcast.com. Our thanks to Scott for the info on this interview.
One of the best known, and most
loved, early performances by Pink Floyd was that done for the BBC,
aired on September 30th, 1971. Other of the band's early BBC concert
recordings - the July 1970 and November 1974 shows - have both recently
been aired on the BBC's digital service, but this will be the first
time that the 1971 performance will have had this honour.
This is all thanks to the hard
work (and pestering!) of an old friend of Brain Damage, Dave Carlin,
who was the person responsible for the 1974 rebroadcast!
BBC 6 Music
have now confirmed that the show will be broadcast on Monday May 29th.
Listeners should perhaps be forewarned that although the broadcast date
is *technically* Monday, it is in reality a case of staying up late on
Sunday May 28th, with the broadcast starting at midnight!
The BBC almost certainly won't
broadcast the full 64 minutes (i.e. 'Blues' will probably get the chop,
as this normally gets excised) but certainly 60 minutes will be very
welcome. Of the three BBC In Concerts, this one is still not available
in 'pristine' quality. Thankfully we've not got long to wait now!
