Brain Damage and A Fleeting Glimpse

Pink Floyd 1968WELCOME TO THE 26th YEAR OF BRAIN DAMAGE, YOUR PINK FLOYD, DAVID GILMOUR, NICK MASON, SYD BARRETT, RICHARD WRIGHT AND ROGER WATERS NEWS RESOURCE!

It's 2025! This year sees the 50th anniversary of Wish You Were Here, which is an incredible thought; where does the time go?!

The stunningly restored and remixed Pink Floyd At Pompeii MCMLXXII on Blu-ray, 2CD, 2LP, DVD, digital and cinema screenings are now here - with some more cinema screenings in selected places. However you experience it, it is NOT to be missed!

There's also been three Record Store Day releases released on April 12th, from David Gilmour, Nick Mason's Saucerful Of Secrets, and Roger Waters which are also definitely worth tracking down, either in a participating store, or online, now that RSD has finished.

Last year, David Gilmour's superb new album, Luck and Strange, was released in a variety of formats, and a selection of coloured vinyls. A limited number of concert dates thrilled crowds in Brighton and London, England, Rome, Italy, and Los Angeles and New York, USA. Rome shows were filmed for release and cinema/IMAX screenings, and a book, 2Blu-ray, 3DVD, 4LP, 2CD and deluxe box set options have now been announced.

The Nick Mason's Saucerful Of Secrets 2024 Set The Controls tour revealed a band in even better form than the 2022/23 shows which managed to exceed everyone's hopes and expectations! Our sincerest hopes are that they continue, but in the meantime, there's the RSD release, and the earlier live recording from London's Roundhouse on Blu-ray, DVD/2CD, and 2LP which is really excellent.

Of course, Roger Waters read three extracts from his memoirs in October 2023 at the London Palladium, so it might not be too long before that is published...he's also working on his new album based around The Bar - we'll let you know as soon as we get all the info! Before all that though is the release of Roger Waters This Is Not A Drill Live In Prague on 4LP vinyl, Blu-ray, DVD, 2CD and digital on August 1st!

Live From Abbey Road gets DVD release Print E-mail

live from abbey road dvd Many of you were knocked out with David Gilmour's fine performance on Channel 4 TV's "Live From Abbey Road", a recording of him and his touring band in the legendary London studios, when it first aired in the UK back in March 2007, and later across the world.

The twelve part series covered a diverse selection of artists, from legends to newcomers, and proved a fascinating insight into the abilities of the performers.

For those that missed it, the good news is that a 2-disc DVD is released in the UK next Monday (October 15th) with highlights from the show, and we have more details of this for you...

The show took the artists into the hallowed studios, and with the only audience being the TV cameras and technicians, they recorded a selection of songs later broadcast in the twelve hour-long episodes. Augmented with interviews, the shows cut through the normal visual effects and studio trickery to showcase the music itself.

The 2-disc DVD brings together some of the best performances from the whole series, along with some additional goodies.

Disc one features: John Mayer; Corinne Bailey Rae; Dr John; Craig David; Damien Rice; LeAnn Rimes; Josh Groban; Natasha Bedingfield ; Wynton Marsalis; Nerina Pallot; Jamiroquai; Ray LaMontagne; Gipsy Kings; and Norah Jones.

Disc two features: David Gilmour; Richard Ashcroft; Massive Attack; The Good, The Bad And The Queen; The Kooks; Gnarls Barkley; The Goo-Goo Dolls; Iron Maiden; Kasabian; Primal Scream; The Zutons; Dave Mathews; and Amos Lee.

dg live from abbey road David's manager confirmed to us late last night that "On An Island" is the track that kicks off the second disc.

As befitting this release, there is an array of special features such as extended interviews (much of which is previously unseen and exclusive to this release), a look behind the scenes, picture galleries and more. With the audio presented in full 5.1 surround sound, this looks to be an excellent "Best Of" the first series of the show. We should have additional details of this release shortly, and will add them to this news story once we have them.

You can order the 2-DVD set through the following special links: Amazon UK, or Amazon Germany. Outside these countries? Don't worry - Amazon ship DVDs worldwide. As a reminder, all purchases made after arriving at Amazon through our links help with the running costs of this site, and do not affect the amount you pay. And we really appreciate it!
