Brain Damage and A Fleeting Glimpse

Pink Floyd 1968WELCOME TO THE 26th YEAR OF BRAIN DAMAGE, YOUR PINK FLOYD, DAVID GILMOUR, NICK MASON, SYD BARRETT, RICHARD WRIGHT AND ROGER WATERS NEWS RESOURCE!

It's 2025! This year sees the 50th anniversary of Wish You Were Here, which is an incredible thought; where does the time go?!

The stunningly restored and remixed Pink Floyd At Pompeii MCMLXXII on Blu-ray, 2CD, 2LP, DVD, digital and cinema screenings are now here - with some more cinema screenings in selected places. However you experience it, it is NOT to be missed!

There's also been three Record Store Day releases released on April 12th, from David Gilmour, Nick Mason's Saucerful Of Secrets, and Roger Waters which are also definitely worth tracking down, either in a participating store, or online, now that RSD has finished.

Last year, David Gilmour's superb new album, Luck and Strange, was released in a variety of formats, and a selection of coloured vinyls. A limited number of concert dates thrilled crowds in Brighton and London, England, Rome, Italy, and Los Angeles and New York, USA. Rome shows were filmed for release at some point...watch this space!

The Nick Mason's Saucerful Of Secrets 2024 Set The Controls tour revealed a band in even better form than the 2022/23 shows which managed to exceed everyone's hopes and expectations! Our sincerest hopes are that they continue, but in the meantime, there's the RSD release, and the earlier live recording from London's Roundhouse on Blu-ray, DVD/2CD, and 2LP which is really excellent.

Of course, Roger Waters read three extracts from his memoirs in October 2023 at the London Palladium, so it might not be too long before that is published...he's also working on his new album based around The Bar - we'll let you know as soon as we get all the info! Before all that though is the release of Roger Waters This Is Not A Drill Live In Prague on 4LP vinyl, Blu-ray, DVD, 2CD and digital on August 1st!

Genesis Publications owner passes away Print E-mail

It was reported by the New York Times news service, that Brian Roylance passed away on Tuesday. Brian was a much respected English publisher whose company, Genesis Publications, turned rock into history with hand-crafted, autographed limited editions of musicians' memoirs and photography collections. His most recent commission was Nick Mason's Inside Out Box Of Delights.

His son, Nicholas, said that Roylance died during a game of football with friends in Guildford, England, apparently of a heart attack. He was 60.

Roylance's company, which he started up in 1974, has published books by George Harrison and Ringo Starr, as well as "Sometime in New York," a collection of Bob Gruen's photographs of John Lennon. Among the other Beatles-related books Roylance published were "Fifty Years Adrift," a memoir by Derek Taylor, who worked for the Beatles in various capacities in the 1960s and again in the 1990s, and "Playback," an autobiography by the group's record producer, George Martin. His success with Beatles-related books lead to working with other stars of the music world.

Nick's book is not their first foray into the world of Pink Floyd. Mick Rock published his archive of Syd Barrett shots in the lavish book "Psychedelic Renegades", initial copies of which were also signed by Mr Barrett himself.

We had the pleasure of some (limited) contact with Brian earlier this year, when he consulted us on the proposed contents of Nick's Box Of Delights. We were pleased to offer our advice and suggestions to Brian, and found him to be a friendly and enthusiastic man.

In addition to his son, who lives in Guildford, Roylance is survived by a daughter, Catherine Roylance, of London; his wife, Patricia Roylance; and two stepdaughters, Laura and Delphine Adburgham. An earlier marriage ended in divorce.

Our condolences to his friends and family.
