Brain Damage and A Fleeting Glimpse

Pink Floyd 1967WELCOME TO THE 25th YEAR OF BRAIN DAMAGE, YOUR PINK FLOYD, NICK MASON, DAVID GILMOUR AND ROGER WATERS NEWS RESOURCE!

Last year was busy, with things such as the deluxe box set marking the 50th anniversary of The Dark Side Of The Moon, with a new remaster of the album, coupled with a number of other things including books and the Wembley 1974 TDSOTM recording. Some of the elements (including the official book) have also been released separately - full details here. There's also the extremely lovely limited edition, UV printed crystal clear 2LP vinyl edition of TDSOTM...

A long hoped for reissue of Richard Wright's Wet Dream, remixed by Steven Wilson with a new stereo AND surround mix, is out now, and absolutely superb, really bringing a forgotten gem back to life and it sounds better than ever.

It's not that long before we get the UK and European dates announced for the Nick Mason's Saucerful Of Secrets 2024 Set The Controls tour, after the 2022/23 shows managed to exceed everyone's hopes and expectations!. In the meantime don't forget that there's the live recording from London's Roundhouse on Blu-ray, DVD/2CD, and 2LP which is really excellent.

David Gilmour's new album, Luck and Strange, has now been announced and is being released on September 6th in a variety of formats, and a selection of coloured vinyls. A limited number of concert dates have also been announced - see all the confirmed David Gilmour concert dates here!

Finally, Roger Waters read three extracts from his memoirs in October 2023 at the London Palladium, so it might not be too long before that is published...we'll let you know as soon as we get all the info!

Echoes "Best Of" gets repackaged Print E-mail

Sidling quietly onto North American record store shelves at the start of this month (October 3rd, to be exact) came a slightly different looking version of the Pink Floyd's "best of" compilation, Echoes.

Released by Capitol in the US, and EMI Music Canada north of the border, the new edition features a new, biodegradable wrap. Whilst most wraps are fairly dispensible, this one actually makes a point of its environmental credentials and even suggests that you can safely discard it!

Echoes 2006 repackage

The wrap covers the standard packaging as released back in 2001. The normal inlay/booklet, featuring complex and detail-drenched Storm Thorgerson artwork, hinting at various aspects of the band's history, is unaltered. The CDs themselves, featuring remastered (and in some cases, re-edited) classics, are also unchanged.

The new wrap certainly brings the contents to the attention of the casual shopper and this is presumably why it has been introduced. We're pleased that the record companies haven't removed the original artwork, as so often happens during repackaging exercises.

Should you not already have the compilation, this new version can be ordered through the following special links: Amazon US/International, Canada, and as an import from Amazon UK/Europe, France, or Germany. Any item bought through these links at Amazon (not just Floyd items) helps with the running costs of the site, and we really appreciate it.
