Early Pink Floyd producer Norman Hurricane Smith's memoirs will be published before year's end under the title of "John Lennon Called Me Normal."

at EMI Abbey Road

In early 1967, Smith was offered the Floyd, then a new band, to produce, recording their seminal debut The Piper at the Gates of Dawn. Smith only produced two albums for Pink Floyd as the band deemed him "too old-fashioned" for their tastes.

Smith was also the Beatles' own engineer from their first EMI audition up to 1965's Rubber Soul including every single and album in between -- an amazing achievement and body of work by anyone's standards.

His forthcoming memoirs will find him telling all about his experiences. There will be a generous portion of the book about his work with Pink Floyd and also the Pretty Things. Obviously, there will also be plenty about the Fab Four, together with his many other spoken word and musical clients. He will also talk about the one and the only multi-hit wonder, Hurricane Smith, himself!

From what we've heard about the book so far, it promises to be an absorbing look behind the scenes from someone who experienced quite a career in music!

We should have more information on this book quite soon. In the meantime, thanks to Rich Phoenix for letting us know about this title!
