Brain Damage and A Fleeting Glimpse

Pink Floyd 1968WELCOME TO THE 26th YEAR OF BRAIN DAMAGE, YOUR PINK FLOYD, DAVID GILMOUR, NICK MASON, SYD BARRETT, RICHARD WRIGHT AND ROGER WATERS NEWS RESOURCE!

It's 2025! This year sees the 50th anniversary of Wish You Were Here, which is an incredible thought; where does the time go?!

The stunningly restored and remixed Pink Floyd At Pompeii MCMLXXII on Blu-ray, 2CD, 2LP, DVD, digital and cinema screenings are now here - with some more cinema screenings in selected places. However you experience it, it is NOT to be missed!

There's also been three Record Store Day releases released on April 12th, from David Gilmour, Nick Mason's Saucerful Of Secrets, and Roger Waters which are also definitely worth tracking down, either in a participating store, or online, now that RSD has finished.

Last year, David Gilmour's superb new album, Luck and Strange, was released in a variety of formats, and a selection of coloured vinyls. A limited number of concert dates thrilled crowds in Brighton and London, England, Rome, Italy, and Los Angeles and New York, USA. Rome shows were filmed for release at some point...watch this space!

The Nick Mason's Saucerful Of Secrets 2024 Set The Controls tour revealed a band in even better form than the 2022/23 shows which managed to exceed everyone's hopes and expectations! Our sincerest hopes are that they continue, but in the meantime, there's the RSD release, and the earlier live recording from London's Roundhouse on Blu-ray, DVD/2CD, and 2LP which is really excellent.

Of course, Roger Waters read three extracts from his memoirs in October 2023 at the London Palladium, so it might not be too long before that is published...he's also working on his new album based around The Bar - we'll let you know as soon as we get all the info! Before all that though is the release of Roger Waters This Is Not A Drill Live In Prague on 4LP vinyl, Blu-ray, DVD, 2CD and digital on August 1st!

David Gilmour - On An Island photo shoot Print E-mail

With the release of David Gilmour's new album, On An Island, just three weeks away now, preparations for the launch and publicity activities are gathering pace. As part of this, David recently spent some time with respected rock photographer Ross Halfin for a photo shoot, which you can see the results of...and also buy prints of!

At Ross's website, he runs a diary of his activities. Here's an extract, showing what he was up to on February 2nd:

"Today I am shooting outdoors. It is of course FREEZING... My subject is David Gilmour of Pink Floyd, or Diamond Dave to his friends. I'm not expecting this to go well. His PR had expressed (in a Felicity Kendall voice) no interest whatsoever in what I was trying to do. When I voiced concern about the time limit set by them, all I got was 'HAVEN'T YOU HEARD OF RE-TOUCHING?' So I was not looking forward to this. Well, Diamond Dave turned up on time. He was the politest and nicest musician I've dealt with since Rory Gallagher, I was shocked. I was shooting on his boathouse which is his studio floating on the Thames. It was a pleasure to work with him."

Ross took some stunning shots as part of the session, and at www.rosshalfin.co.uk you can see a selection of 26 great pictures (one of them shown to the right) - these are mainly black and white, and sepia, although there are some subtly coloured shots too.

If you want to treat yourself, Ross is selling prints of all the pictures. Prints are available in 3 sizes: 20" x 16", 16" x 12", and 12" x 10". Black and white and lith prints are printed on fibre-based paper to archival standards; colour prints are printed on Fuji Crystal Archive paper. All prints are individually hand printed only when you order, and Ross personally checks and signs all prints prior to despatch. Please note, sizes are in inches, not in centimetres.

Our thanks to Ross for his help. The image shown here is © Ross Halfin and used strictly with permission. No unauthorised use permitted.
