Brain Damage and A Fleeting Glimpse

Pink Floyd 1967WELCOME TO THE 25th YEAR OF BRAIN DAMAGE, YOUR PINK FLOYD, NICK MASON, DAVID GILMOUR AND ROGER WATERS NEWS RESOURCE!

Last year was busy, with things such as the deluxe box set marking the 50th anniversary of The Dark Side Of The Moon, with a new remaster of the album, coupled with a number of other things including books and the Wembley 1974 TDSOTM recording. Some of the elements (including the official book) have also been released separately - full details here. There's also the extremely lovely limited edition, UV printed crystal clear 2LP vinyl edition of TDSOTM...

A long hoped for reissue of Richard Wright's Wet Dream, remixed by Steven Wilson with a new stereo AND surround mix, is out now, and absolutely superb, really bringing a forgotten gem back to life and it sounds better than ever.

It's not that long before we get the UK and European dates announced for the Nick Mason's Saucerful Of Secrets 2024 Set The Controls tour, after the 2022/23 shows managed to exceed everyone's hopes and expectations!. In the meantime don't forget that there's the live recording from London's Roundhouse on Blu-ray, DVD/2CD, and 2LP which is really excellent.

David Gilmour's new album, Luck and Strange, has now been announced and is being released on September 6th in a variety of formats, and a selection of coloured vinyls. A limited number of concert dates have also been announced - see all the confirmed David Gilmour concert dates here!

Finally, Roger Waters read three extracts from his memoirs in October 2023 at the London Palladium, so it might not be too long before that is published...we'll let you know as soon as we get all the info!

HOW TO HELP THE SITE: If you want to contribute anything - such as concert reviews, articles or pictures - we'd love to hear from you; please email us.

With the current interest in David Gilmour, following the release of his new album On An Island, and his current tour, broadcasters are making the most of this, and we've news of more Gilmour/Pink Floyd radio and TV specials. This supplements the information we gave you on March 29th of other broadcasts!

David Gilmour
David Gilmour on RTL TV
First, Dutch TV channel RTL last week aired a short interview with David. Lasting just three and a half minutes, it is pretty brief, but thankfully for the non-Dutch speakers, David was not overdubbed, simply subtitled. You can view the interview on demand through this link at www.RTL.nl. You need to scroll down to "Video: 22-03, Pink Floyd" to launch it.

Our thanks to Carla Buijsman for letting us know.

Tomorrow, the French branch of RTL broadcasts a Pink Floyd special on its radio service. Each week, George Lang tells the story of a major artist or band, using interviews with the performers themselves. Tomorrow (April 1st) at 11pm (CET) the two-hour show looks at the Pink Floyd story. You can listen to the live stream of the radio station by going to www.RTL.fr. Our thanks to Alain for this news.

British TV isn't deglecting its viewers either... For those who've not yet bought the Dark Side Of The Moon Classic Albums DVD, you get another chance to see it on BBC 4 TV, on Friday April 7th, at 11:20pm. If you haven't seen it, you a missing a treat - check out our review.

The UK's Channel 4 TV are also joining in, airing the excellent "David Gilmour In Concert" special recorded at the 2001 Royal Festival Hall show (which was subsequently released on DVD -again, reviewed on this site) on Saturday April 15th, at 1:30am. Again, a great watch, and an essential part of your DVD collection!

The wonderful DavidGilmour.com site is also reporting that this special will be shown by various broadcasters worldwide soon, and they should have full details of airing times/dates soon. They do note, though, that Portuguese TV channel RTP will broadcast it on April 22nd on RTP 1, and it will be repeated in May on Channel 2.

As we get information on other broadcasts/broadcasters, we will let you know.
