Brain Damage and A Fleeting Glimpse

Pink Floyd 1968WELCOME TO THE 26th YEAR OF BRAIN DAMAGE, YOUR PINK FLOYD, DAVID GILMOUR, NICK MASON, SYD BARRETT, RICHARD WRIGHT AND ROGER WATERS NEWS RESOURCE!

It's 2025! This year sees the 50th anniversary of Wish You Were Here, which is an incredible thought; where does the time go?!

The stunningly restored and remixed Pink Floyd At Pompeii MCMLXXII on Blu-ray, 2CD, 2LP, DVD, digital and cinema screenings are now here - with some more cinema screenings in selected places. However you experience it, it is NOT to be missed!

There's also been three Record Store Day releases released on April 12th, from David Gilmour, Nick Mason's Saucerful Of Secrets, and Roger Waters which are also definitely worth tracking down, either in a participating store, or online, now that RSD has finished.

Last year, David Gilmour's superb new album, Luck and Strange, was released in a variety of formats, and a selection of coloured vinyls. A limited number of concert dates thrilled crowds in Brighton and London, England, Rome, Italy, and Los Angeles and New York, USA. Rome shows were filmed for release at some point...watch this space!

The Nick Mason's Saucerful Of Secrets 2024 Set The Controls tour revealed a band in even better form than the 2022/23 shows which managed to exceed everyone's hopes and expectations! Our sincerest hopes are that they continue, but in the meantime, there's the RSD release, and the earlier live recording from London's Roundhouse on Blu-ray, DVD/2CD, and 2LP which is really excellent.

Of course, Roger Waters read three extracts from his memoirs in October 2023 at the London Palladium, so it might not be too long before that is published...he's also working on his new album based around The Bar - we'll let you know as soon as we get all the info! Before all that though is the release of Roger Waters This Is Not A Drill Live In Prague on 4LP vinyl, Blu-ray, DVD, 2CD and digital on August 1st!

As David Gilmour's new album, "On An Island", hits US stores today, we have a couple of updates for you.

First off, we've just heard that US chain store "Best Buy" have an exclusive limited edition of the album on sale, which includes "Island Jam as a bonus track. Many of you will recall that this was the lovely, bluesly number which was on David's own website to see/hear for a few days around Christmas.

We now have news on how this particular edition is presented. The bonus track appears as a stand alone CD in a sleeve that is shrink wrapped with the full CD at Best Buy. All of them have a sticker on the front packaging stating the bonus cd is included.

As far as we can tell, you can ONLY get this special edition from Best Buy, and for a very limited period. our thanks to everyone who wrote in with info, and particularly to Jonathan Still.

In other news, we mentioned earlier that David is due to appear on a forthcoming In The Studio show - a great, regular interview and music show, syndicated across the US. BD's Brent Ingalls was in contact with the presenter, Redbeard, who gave us the following rundown on the show, and also made suggestions of stations that listeners worldwide might be able to tune in to, via their websites.

"David Gilmour will be my guest IN THE STUDIO discussing his three solo albums, including the new On An Island, the week of March 13th on 80 stations in the U.S. Since the show is pre-recorded, each station runs the program on the day and time of their choosing. For instance, radio station KZPS-FM in Dallas Texas will run it Sunday March 19th at 8p.m. Central Time, and stream it on the internet at the same time. KMOD-FM in Tulsa Oklahoma will run it a day earlier on Saturday morning (March 18th) at 8a.m. Central Time; same day and time for WEGR-FM, Memphis Tennessee. WRDU-FM,Raleigh North Carolina runs it the earliest in the week - Monday March 13th at 11 p.m. Eastern Time. Check these stations to see if they stream their signals on the web."

For those in Canada "we have one Canadian affiliate these days, CJYC-FM in St.Johns, New Brunswick, and we can be heard in southern Ontario on our Detroit affiliate, WCSX-FM on early Saturday mornings 5am - 6am.

Our thanks to Redbeard for the help and information.
