WELCOME TO THE 26th YEAR OF BRAIN DAMAGE, YOUR PINK FLOYD, DAVID GILMOUR, NICK MASON, SYD BARRETT, RICHARD WRIGHT AND ROGER WATERS NEWS RESOURCE!
It's 2025! This year sees the 50th anniversary of Wish You Were Here, which is an incredible thought; where does the time go?!
The stunningly restored and remixed Pink Floyd At Pompeii MCMLXXII on Blu-ray, 2CD, 2LP, DVD, digital and cinema screenings are now here - with some more cinema screenings in selected places. However you experience it, it is NOT to be missed!
There's also been three Record Store Day releases released on April 12th, from David Gilmour, Nick Mason's Saucerful Of Secrets, and Roger Waters which are also definitely worth tracking down, either in a participating store, or online, now that RSD has finished.
Last year, David Gilmour's superb new album, Luck and Strange, was released in a variety of formats, and a selection of coloured vinyls. A limited number of concert dates thrilled crowds in Brighton and London, England, Rome, Italy, and Los Angeles and New York, USA. Rome shows were filmed for release at some point...watch this space!
The Nick Mason's Saucerful Of Secrets 2024 Set The Controls tour revealed a band in even better form than the 2022/23 shows which managed to exceed everyone's hopes and expectations! Our sincerest hopes are that they continue, but in the meantime, there's the RSD release, and the earlier live recording from London's Roundhouse on Blu-ray, DVD/2CD, and 2LP which is really excellent.
Of course, Roger Waters read three extracts from his memoirs in October 2023 at the London Palladium, so it might not be too long before that is published...he's also working on his new album based around The Bar - we'll let you know as soon as we get all the info! Before all that though is the release of Roger Waters This Is Not A Drill Live In Prague on 4LP vinyl, Blu-ray, DVD, 2CD and digital on August 1st!

We reported previously that the
promised reissues of David Gilmour's highly regarded first two solo
albums, were on their way. They finally hit the stores yesterday, in
Europe (via EMI), and are due to arrive today, in the US, Canada,
Australia, and New Zealand (via SonyBMG).

DAVID GILMOUR (1978) |
 |
ABOUT FACE (1984) |
Many of you have commented over
the last five months or so, that you wished David had played material
from these albums on his recent solo tour, and for those of you yet to
discover these gems, now's the ideal time!
For those of you who haven't
heard one/both of these, you are in for a treat. The first album has a
bluesy feel, a contrast to David's work on the then recently released
Animals album, whilst the second brings a more contemporary feel, a
precursor to later period Floyd albums (A Momentary Lapse Of Reason and
The Division Bell).
David's website
notes that "David Gilmour (1978) has been remastered by Doug Sax and
Sangwook Nam at The Mastering Lab, California, from the original
analogue master tape. About Face (1984) had some tape edits on its
original master, so audio legend James Guthrie transferred it to a
high-quality digital master and created a new edit-free master, while
ensuring the highest sonic quality."
We understand that the packaging
is identical to the original releases, but with some additional
pictures of David from the time of release, within the pages of the CD
booklets. Also, contrary to very early reports about these titles,
there are NO additional tracks.
UPDATE: We've had a number of
emails from people in the US and Canada, all reporting that there is no
sign of the CDs in stores. We've also had a couple of people who work
in stores/distribution companies who also report that they haven't
arrived. The situation in the UK is different - we've had reports that
the new versions ARE now on sale. More on this soon...
