Brain Damage and A Fleeting Glimpse

Pink Floyd 1968WELCOME TO THE 26th YEAR OF BRAIN DAMAGE, YOUR PINK FLOYD, DAVID GILMOUR, NICK MASON, SYD BARRETT, RICHARD WRIGHT AND ROGER WATERS NEWS RESOURCE!

It's 2025! This year sees the 50th anniversary of Wish You Were Here, which is an incredible thought; where does the time go?!

The stunningly restored and remixed Pink Floyd At Pompeii MCMLXXII on Blu-ray, 2CD, 2LP, DVD, digital and cinema screenings are now here - with some more cinema screenings in selected places. However you experience it, it is NOT to be missed!

There's also been three Record Store Day releases released on April 12th, from David Gilmour, Nick Mason's Saucerful Of Secrets, and Roger Waters which are also definitely worth tracking down, either in a participating store, or online, now that RSD has finished.

Last year, David Gilmour's superb new album, Luck and Strange, was released in a variety of formats, and a selection of coloured vinyls. A limited number of concert dates thrilled crowds in Brighton and London, England, Rome, Italy, and Los Angeles and New York, USA. Rome shows were filmed for release at some point...watch this space!

The Nick Mason's Saucerful Of Secrets 2024 Set The Controls tour revealed a band in even better form than the 2022/23 shows which managed to exceed everyone's hopes and expectations! Our sincerest hopes are that they continue, but in the meantime, there's the RSD release, and the earlier live recording from London's Roundhouse on Blu-ray, DVD/2CD, and 2LP which is really excellent.

Of course, Roger Waters read three extracts from his memoirs in October 2023 at the London Palladium, so it might not be too long before that is published...he's also working on his new album based around The Bar - we'll let you know as soon as we get all the info! Before all that though is the release of Roger Waters This Is Not A Drill Live In Prague on 4LP vinyl, Blu-ray, DVD, 2CD and digital on August 1st!

David Gilmour at this week's Fender Strat charity concert - DVD filming Print E-mail
Written by Matt

Further to our previous news story that Pink Floyd guitarist David Gilmour will be appearing at a large charity event to celebrate the Fender Stratocaster guitar, we now have more confirmed artists at the event for you. The event, which is in aid of Nordoff-Robins Music Therapy, will take place at Wembley Arena this coming Friday, September 24th and will feature a mix of legends and contemporary artists.

The stars are to gather to celebrate the fiftieth anniversary of one of rocks greatest icons - the Strat. The organisers of the show have now confirmed to us the following: Paul Rodgers (Bad Company), David Gilmour (Pink Floyd), Ronnie Wood (The Rolling Stones), Joe Walsh (The Eagles), Jeff Beck, Brian May (Queen), Bryan Adams, The Shadows' Hank Marvin, Phil Manzanera (Roxy Music), Johnny Marr (The Smiths), Mike Rutherford (Genesis/Mike & The Mechanics), Paul Carrack (Squeeze/Mike & The Mechanics), The Crickets and Amy Winehouse.

Even better news, especially for all those who can't make it along, is that the event will be taped for a future DVD and television release, according to the press release, and will benefit the Nordoff-Robbins Music Therapy Centre in London.

It has been confirmed that David Gilmour will be playing his serial-numbered 001 Stratocaster on the night, the very first of its kind made by Leo Fender in July 1954.

There are still a few tickets available, through normal ticket agents (Ticketmaster, etc) and also through the official Wembley website - What's On Wembley.

Nordoff-Robbins do great work and is a charity that is deserving of support - their website can be found at www.nordoff-robbins.org.uk.

Brain Damage will of course be at the event, and will report back on it next weekend for you, with full details of the show and hopefully some pictures of David in action...
