Brain Damage and A Fleeting Glimpse

Pink Floyd 1968WELCOME TO THE 26th YEAR OF BRAIN DAMAGE, YOUR PINK FLOYD, DAVID GILMOUR, NICK MASON, SYD BARRETT, RICHARD WRIGHT AND ROGER WATERS NEWS RESOURCE!

It's 2025! This year sees the 50th anniversary of Wish You Were Here, which is an incredible thought; where does the time go?!

The stunningly restored and remixed Pink Floyd At Pompeii MCMLXXII on Blu-ray, 2CD, 2LP, DVD, digital and cinema screenings are now here - with some more cinema screenings in selected places. However you experience it, it is NOT to be missed!

There's also been three Record Store Day releases released on April 12th, from David Gilmour, Nick Mason's Saucerful Of Secrets, and Roger Waters which are also definitely worth tracking down, either in a participating store, or online, now that RSD has finished.

Last year, David Gilmour's superb new album, Luck and Strange, was released in a variety of formats, and a selection of coloured vinyls. A limited number of concert dates thrilled crowds in Brighton and London, England, Rome, Italy, and Los Angeles and New York, USA. Rome shows were filmed for release at some point...watch this space!

The Nick Mason's Saucerful Of Secrets 2024 Set The Controls tour revealed a band in even better form than the 2022/23 shows which managed to exceed everyone's hopes and expectations! Our sincerest hopes are that they continue, but in the meantime, there's the RSD release, and the earlier live recording from London's Roundhouse on Blu-ray, DVD/2CD, and 2LP which is really excellent.

Of course, Roger Waters read three extracts from his memoirs in October 2023 at the London Palladium, so it might not be too long before that is published...he's also working on his new album based around The Bar - we'll let you know as soon as we get all the info!

David Gilmour at Fender Strat Pack concert - DVD update Print E-mail
Written by Matt
Tuesday, 22 February 2005

Further to our last update in January on the forthcoming Fender Strat Pack show DVD, we have some more news for you of this much anticipated title. The show, on September 24th, which featured Pink Floyd guitarist David Gilmour alongside a whole host of top musicians at the London Wembley Arena, was a charity event in aid of Nordoff-Robbins, and celebrated 50 years of the Fender Stratocaster guitar.

The concert alone raised £175,000 (around US$330,000) for the music therapy charity, and the DVD is expected to swell this figure dramatically.

As we mentioned before, the concert has been mixed and edited in David Gilmour's home studio by David and Andy Jackson. The main feature (the concert itself) is a whopping two and a half hours long - the main aspect that has been edited out is David Jensen's on-stage introduction of the artistes. The DVD was due to hit the streets in April, but we've been informed that there has been some slight slippage on the release and it is now due in mid-May 2005.

With the audio mix done, the final touches are being made on the footage, shot under the watchful eye of Aubrey "Po" Powell, one part of Hipgnosis (the partnership with Storm Thorgerson), in high definition.

Strat enthusiast, musician and film maker Ray Minhinnett is also working on an updated version of his documentary "Curves, Contours and Body Horns - History Of The Fender Stratocaster" for inclusion on the DVD. The original version of this was screened on the UK ITV television channel in 1994, and featured interviews with a veritable "who's who" of legendary guitarists, including Gilmour.

We should have further information on the DVD release soon, along with ordering information.
