Brain Damage and A Fleeting Glimpse

Pink Floyd 1968WELCOME TO THE 26th YEAR OF BRAIN DAMAGE, YOUR PINK FLOYD, DAVID GILMOUR, NICK MASON, SYD BARRETT, RICHARD WRIGHT AND ROGER WATERS NEWS RESOURCE!

It's 2025! This year sees the 50th anniversary of Wish You Were Here, which is an incredible thought; where does the time go?!

The stunningly restored and remixed Pink Floyd At Pompeii MCMLXXII on Blu-ray, 2CD, 2LP, DVD, digital and cinema screenings are now here - with some more cinema screenings in selected places. However you experience it, it is NOT to be missed!

There's also been three Record Store Day releases released on April 12th, from David Gilmour, Nick Mason's Saucerful Of Secrets, and Roger Waters which are also definitely worth tracking down, either in a participating store, or online, now that RSD has finished.

Last year, David Gilmour's superb new album, Luck and Strange, was released in a variety of formats, and a selection of coloured vinyls. A limited number of concert dates thrilled crowds in Brighton and London, England, Rome, Italy, and Los Angeles and New York, USA. Rome shows were filmed for release at some point...watch this space!

The Nick Mason's Saucerful Of Secrets 2024 Set The Controls tour revealed a band in even better form than the 2022/23 shows which managed to exceed everyone's hopes and expectations! Our sincerest hopes are that they continue, but in the meantime, there's the RSD release, and the earlier live recording from London's Roundhouse on Blu-ray, DVD/2CD, and 2LP which is really excellent.

Of course, Roger Waters read three extracts from his memoirs in October 2023 at the London Palladium, so it might not be too long before that is published...he's also working on his new album based around The Bar - we'll let you know as soon as we get all the info!

David Gilmour 2006 tour - US/Canada tickets Print E-mail
Written by Matt
Monday, 19 December 2005

Further to our news yesterday, confirming David Gilmour's US and Canadian tour dates, we have full ticketing details for you, shown in detail below, including how you can buy advance tickets and special inclusive packages. We also have news of an additional show at London's Royal Albert Hall, which joined the schedules today, and news of potential stage equipment!

David Gilmour
David Gilmour - Live 2006
The news yesterday was a little sketchy on a couple of details, unfortunately, but with the update of www.DavidGilmour.com this afternoon (UK time), all has become clear!

David will be touring in Spring 2006, with his 'On An Island Tour', the title coming from Gilmour’s new solo album which is released on 6 March 2006 in the UK and Europe, and 7 March in the US/Canada.

Looking first at the additional London show, you can now also catch David at the Royal Albert Hall on 31st May. As before, 300 pairs of tickets were made available to pre-order for the London shows, by registering details on www.davidgilmour.com. The lucky winners of these latest tickets will be notified by email by 10am tomorrow morning. Registration of your details is still open, at time of writing this. Apologies for not being able to give you advance notice of this!

Tickets for this additional show will go on sale through the Royal Albert Hall box office on (+44) (0)20 7589 8212, via www.royalalberthall.com, or Seetickets on (+44) (0)871 230 0333 or www.seetickets.com.

US/CANADIAN TICKETING DETAILS

Ticket presales online go live in each city at 10:AM local time, Tuesday 20 December 2005 (today). The sale of tickets to the general public (should there be any tickets left) will be on 14 January. Tickets for all shows are being sold through Ticketmaster.com.

Apart from regular seating, "Hot Seat" packages are available for purchase. Each Hot Seat package includes:

  • Premium ticket located in the first 20 rows
  • Exclusive Merchandise
  • Collectible Laminate
  • David Gilmour's new CD, "On An Island"
These packages are priced at $350. Ticketmaster will also be offering "Deluxe Travel Packages" that will be available from them after the public on-sale. Deluxe Travel Packages include prime reserved tickets in the fifth row, hotel accommodations, ground transportation to and from concert, welcome reception, souvenir item and 24-hour on-site host.

If the European shows are anything to go by, tickets for these new shows will sell incredibly quickly - act now to secure tickets for the show(s) of your choice!

Finally, we have news of equipment that David may be using on stage, during the shows, if reports coming through are correct. We've had emails from some of our Finnish friends, passing on a story in the country's press that "Pink Floyd has ordered seven fogscreens from a Finnish company." Brian Forth, the sales representative for America of FogScreen Inc., said that they were "planning to use them to enhance their concerts".

The technology behind the screens is quite interesting, and gives a nice effect. More details can be found at various sites, not least fogscreen.com. We would point out that, if there is any truth in this story, the company can only be referring to David's concerts, as there are NO plans currently for any Pink Floyd shows!

Our thanks to Pekka Torvinen and Sami Lehtinen for their help in this story.
