Brain Damage and A Fleeting Glimpse

Pink Floyd 1987WELCOME TO THE 26th YEAR OF BRAIN DAMAGE, YOUR PINK FLOYD, DAVID GILMOUR, NICK MASON, SYD BARRETT, RICHARD WRIGHT AND ROGER WATERS NEWS RESOURCE!

It's 2025! This year sees the 50th anniversary of Wish You Were Here, which is an incredible thought; where does the time go?!

We now know that Pink Floyd At Pompeii MCMLXXII on Blu-ray, 2CD, 2LP, DVD, digital and cinema screenings are on their way, with the releases on May 2nd, and the cinema screenings shortly before. NOT to be missed!

There's also been three Record Store Day releases released on April 12th, from David Gilmour, Nick Mason's Saucerful Of Secrets, and Roger Waters which are also definitely worth tracking down, either in a participating store, or online, now that RSD has finished.

Last year, David Gilmour's superb new album, Luck and Strange, was released in a variety of formats, and a selection of coloured vinyls. A limited number of concert dates thrilled crowds in Brighton and London, England, Rome, Italy, and Los Angeles and New York, USA. Rome shows were filmed for release at some point...watch this space!

The Nick Mason's Saucerful Of Secrets 2024 Set The Controls tour revealed a band in even better form than the 2022/23 shows which managed to exceed everyone's hopes and expectations! Our sincerest hopes are that they continue, but in the meantime, there's the RSD release, and the earlier live recording from London's Roundhouse on Blu-ray, DVD/2CD, and 2LP which is really excellent.

Of course, Roger Waters read three extracts from his memoirs in October 2023 at the London Palladium, so it might not be too long before that is published...he's also working on his new album based around The Bar - we'll let you know as soon as we get all the info!

COMPETITION: Win one of three copies of Pink Floyd-related book Print E-mail

wywh book coverA new book, "Wish You Were Here: Chapters In The Life Of Rex Roman", has just been published which looks at the life of this British actor (and fading star). His story is inextricably tied up with his favourite band, Pink Floyd, and indeed the book starts with Rex hearing about the Live8 concert, and then looking back on his life. A very funny book, it is also touching, and has many events and references that Pink Floyd fans will identify with and enjoy, including, allegedly, "the best-kept secret in rock history"!

A pair of live concerts are being held next month to formally launch the book, with a live band, supported by stand-up comedians. The band will be playing some NEW Floyd arrangements and just generally celebrating the music of Pink Floyd.

We've got more details of these shows, along with your opportunity to win one of three copies of the limited first-edition run of the book signed by author Simon Ash!

Wish You Were Here Live will be taking place on June 17th and 18th at the Wilde Theatre in Bracknell, Berkshire, UK, and promises to be a great evening. Rex's ultimate plan is for a full-scale stage show to be held (with Simon's help, of course), and this pair of concerts will give you an early chance to experience a flavour of what might be on the horizon. To buy tickets for the show, priced at just £12 each, call the box office on 01344-484-123, or visit the venue website.

The book itself is available directly from www.RexRoman.com, or can be ordered from any UK bookstore. The first edition run is limited to 1000, all of which hand-numbered and signed by the author. Due to the amount of word-of-mouth the book is getting, most of these are now sold (so be quick if you want one) and Simon is starting to make arrangements for the second edition. You'll also find out more details of Rex, the live shows, and more, over at the website, so it is worth a visit.

So to the Rex competition. Thanks to Simon, we've got three copies of the book to give away to Brain Damage visitors. All you need to do is answer the following question:

  •   What 'guitars' does Rex use to play along with Pink Floyd?

The answers are easily found on www.RexRoman.com. Send your entry to This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it , marking it "Wish You Were Here", and including your name and address, to reach us by 11:59pm (UK time) on June 2nd. Best of luck to all who enter!

UPDATE: The competition has now closed, and the lucky winners are: Rachel Evans, UK, Philip Rackley, UK, and Kim Davidson, USA. Well done to these three, and commiserations to those who weren't picked this time around.
