WELCOME TO THE 26th YEAR OF BRAIN DAMAGE, YOUR PINK FLOYD, DAVID GILMOUR, NICK MASON, SYD BARRETT, RICHARD WRIGHT AND ROGER WATERS NEWS RESOURCE!
It's 2025! This year sees the 50th anniversary of Wish You Were Here, which is an incredible thought; where does the time go?!
We now know that Pink Floyd At Pompeii MCMLXXII on Blu-ray, 2CD, 2LP, DVD, digital and cinema screenings are on their way, with the releases on May 2nd, and the cinema screenings shortly before. NOT to be missed!
There's also been three Record Store Day releases released on April 12th, from David Gilmour, Nick Mason's Saucerful Of Secrets, and Roger Waters which are also definitely worth tracking down, either in a participating store, or online, now that RSD has finished.
Last year, David Gilmour's superb new album, Luck and Strange, was released in a variety of formats, and a selection of coloured vinyls. A limited number of concert dates thrilled crowds in Brighton and London, England, Rome, Italy, and Los Angeles and New York, USA. Rome shows were filmed for release at some point...watch this space!
The Nick Mason's Saucerful Of Secrets 2024 Set The Controls tour revealed a band in even better form than the 2022/23 shows which managed to exceed everyone's hopes and expectations! Our sincerest hopes are that they continue, but in the meantime, there's the RSD release, and the earlier live recording from London's Roundhouse on Blu-ray, DVD/2CD, and 2LP which is really excellent.
Of course, Roger Waters read three extracts from his memoirs in October 2023 at the London Palladium, so it might not be too long before that is published...he's also working on his new album based around The Bar - we'll let you know as soon as we get all the info!

Apologies for the lack of advance notice, but we've just found out this morning, that this evening - Thursday, May 19th - at 6:30pm, Hipgnosis co-founder, creative designer, photographer and filmmaker Aubrey 'Po' Powell talks about his recently published book Through the Prism, published by Thames & Hudson, in the Cafe of The Photographer's Gallery in London which is close to Oxford Circus tube station. The event is free to attend.
In the talk, Powell will share intriguing stories of creative endeavour, volatile relationships, excessive lifestyles and bizarre events from the world of rock in conversation with author and music journalist Mark Blake.
The gallery preview the event by saying: "Hipgnosis transformed album art with their designs for Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, Genesis, Paul McCartney and Wings and so many more. Brutally honest, entertaining and insightful, Po tells the incredible stories of creative endeavour, volatile alliances, high-risk/high-altitude photoshoots and downright bizarre events from the halcyon days of rock’n’roll. From his unique insider perspective, Po sets many records straight, bringing revelatory new details to legendary tales, including the genesis of The Dark Side Of The Moon, Houses Of The Holy, The Lamb Lies Down On Broadway, and Peter Gabriel’s trio ‘Car’ / ‘Scratch’ / ‘Melt’, each evidenced with photographs, documents, artefacts and artworks from Po’s own archive.
"Mark Blake's work has been published in Mojo, The Times, Rolling Stone and Classic Rock. His books include the best-selling ‘Pigs Might Fly: The Inside Story Of Pink Floyd’ and ‘Bring It On Home’, a critically-acclaimed biography of Led Zeppelin’s notorious manager, Peter Grant."
For more information about the event, and getting to the gallery, please visit ThePhotographersGallery.org.uk.
