Brain Damage and A Fleeting Glimpse

Pink Floyd 1987WELCOME TO THE 26th YEAR OF BRAIN DAMAGE, YOUR PINK FLOYD, DAVID GILMOUR, NICK MASON, SYD BARRETT, RICHARD WRIGHT AND ROGER WATERS NEWS RESOURCE!

It's 2025! This year sees the 50th anniversary of Wish You Were Here, which is an incredible thought; where does the time go?!

We now know that Pink Floyd At Pompeii MCMLXXII on Blu-ray, 2CD, 2LP, DVD, digital and cinema screenings are on their way, with the releases on May 2nd, and the cinema screenings shortly before. NOT to be missed!

There's also been three Record Store Day releases released on April 12th, from David Gilmour, Nick Mason's Saucerful Of Secrets, and Roger Waters which are also definitely worth tracking down, either in a participating store, or online, now that RSD has finished.

Last year, David Gilmour's superb new album, Luck and Strange, was released in a variety of formats, and a selection of coloured vinyls. A limited number of concert dates thrilled crowds in Brighton and London, England, Rome, Italy, and Los Angeles and New York, USA. Rome shows were filmed for release at some point...watch this space!

The Nick Mason's Saucerful Of Secrets 2024 Set The Controls tour revealed a band in even better form than the 2022/23 shows which managed to exceed everyone's hopes and expectations! Our sincerest hopes are that they continue, but in the meantime, there's the RSD release, and the earlier live recording from London's Roundhouse on Blu-ray, DVD/2CD, and 2LP which is really excellent.

Of course, Roger Waters read three extracts from his memoirs in October 2023 at the London Palladium, so it might not be too long before that is published...he's also working on his new album based around The Bar - we'll let you know as soon as we get all the info!

"Another Brick" school in protest Print E-mail

Children at Islington Green school in London, which was used back in 1979 for the kid's choir on Another Brick In The Wall from Pink Floyd's The Wall album, are staging a protest at proposed changes to their status. In the protest, they are using an amended version of the famous lyric...

Islington Green school Islington Council is working with the City of London and City University on redeveloping Islington Green School as an Academy School. This would make it a publicly-funded independent secondary school with private sponsors - something that isn't impressing everyone.

Islington Green teacher and National Union of Teachers spokesman Ken Muller told the BBC: "Our school is an improving school. It's one of the best improving schools in London so we don't know what city academies have got to offer us. Why should private sponsors be able to take over our school and run it instead of democratically-elected councillors?"

As part of their protest, children from the school will repeat the performance of their forerunners, outside Islington Town Hall, with these new lyrics:

We don't need no privatisation

We don't need no business control

No lies and spin coming from the boardroom

All in all it's just another lie being told

Failing the children we will not condone

Bankers, leave our kids alone

Hey, bankers, leave our kids alone!

More information on the plans to convert the school can be found over at www.islington.gov.uk, and the school's own website is at www.igschool.com.
