Nick Mason's book "Inside Out - A Personal History Of Pink Floyd" is now on sale in the UK, is wonderful - a truly essential purchase - and we have more updates for you of upcoming signing events and recent interviews.

BOOK SIGNINGS
We've had a load of emails from people who attended the book signings so far; everyone has had a great time, and has been knocked out at Nick's generosity and good humour at the events. Indeed, the question and answer session in Bournemouth (arranged without Nick's prior knowledge!) was one of the highlights so far. The signing events have already proved very popular - so if you intend seeing him on one of the following dates, please be early! Here's the current list of where to catch Nick:

    * Tuesday December 7th - 12:30pm - Fopp, Earlham Street, London
    * Monday December 13th - 6:00pm - Ottakar's, Lion & Lamb Yard, Farnham, Surrey
    * Tuesday December 14th - 12:30pm - Ottakar's, Rose Lane, Canterbury, Kent

Please confirm times with the stores before setting out, as they are subject to last minute change. There are likely to be other signing sessions and as we get information on this, we will let you know.

Ottaker's Bookshops are also running an on-line competition relating to the book, offering goodies signed by Nick Mason in their Pink Floyd competition which runs until 19th December. Enter it to try and win a copy of Inside Out, a box set of Echoes on vinyl and Pink Floyd Live at Pompeii on DVD, all signed by Nick Mason.

INTERVIEW UPDATE
Some people have emailed us, disappointed with the short interview with Nick on the Jools Holland "Later With..." show on BBC TV this month. Mark from Orion Books, the publishers of Nick's book, told me "the show had a slightly truncated [version of the] interview with Nick. In the full interview he made a nice comparison between the picture of Nick on page 21 (loading his own drums into the transit van) and the spread on pages 320-321 showing the 200+ crew for the Division Bell tour. Jools joked that Nick was probably still around the back somewhere loading up the many articulated lorries himself.

"They looked at a quite a few pictures and Jools had marked many pages of interested but there simply wasn't the time to go through them all. Although you have to wonder if the interview may have been cut for other reasons! Nick joked to me afterwards that he could be in serious trouble with the Beeb after the blatant plugging on Top Gear!"

Our thanks to Mark for the clarification. The aired interview did seem short and a bit fragmented, and now we know why.

Finally, in another (short!) interview, quoted on the Contact Music website, Nick expresses his amazement that the band carried on, despite heavy criticism from Scottish audiences:

      THE WALL drummer sunk to an all-time low whilst performing with the seminal band in Scotland, where the harsh rebuttal given to them deflated the musician's confidence.

      Mason says, "They hated us.

      "But what's interesting is that we didn't just jack it in - because after you've done your tour of Scotland and they've all said, 'F**k off,' you wonder why do we think it'll be ok next time?"

      The influential group's disillusionment was further compounded by an experience at a Catholic youth club where the promoter refused to pay them on the grounds they weren't playing proper music.

      Pink Floyd went on to lose a small claims court case brought against the promoter.

Our thanks to Ben for tipping us off about this...
