Gilmour inducts Brian Wilson to Hall Of Fame Print E-mail

David Gilmour and Brian Wilson at UK Music Hall Of FameLast night (November 14th), London's Alexandra Palace was the scene of the 2006 UK Music Hall of Fame ceremony, in an event which boasted everything from reportedly magnificent performances from legends, to politician heckling - something for everyone!

As part of the event, Beach Boys legend Brian Wilson was inducted by none other than David Gilmour, and we have some exclusive pictures of David honouring Brian.

The UK Music Hall Of Fame honours the "most influential talents of popular music who have provided the soundtrack to the lives of millions." It aims to recognise the most important artists of the past 50 years from around the world. Indeed, last year saw Pink Floyd as one of the inductees for their contribution to the world of music, alongside other artists such as The Who, Bob Dylan, and Jimi Hendrix.

The ceremony, which will be broadcast on Channel 4 in the UK on November 16th (tomorrow) and on VH1 in the USA on November 25th, also saw Brian Wilson perform a few of his classics, including 1966's "Good Vibrations".

Sir George Martin, The Beatles' producer (often referred to as their fifth member) was also inducted. Giving him his award was the UK Chancellor Of The Exchequer Gordon Brown, who was met with a chorus of boos, heckles, and cries of "murderer" from the crowd. Undaunted, a band made up of Razorlight's Johnny Borrell, Corinne Bailey Rae, Roger Taylor from Queen (drums), and Jose Gonzalez (guitar), played a medley of tracks from Abbey Road in honour of the great man. 'Golden Slumbers', 'Carry That Weight', 'The End' were backed by a gospel choir and orchestra, conducted by Sir George himself.

Led Zeppelin were inducted as well, with Jimmy Page receiving the award.
