COMMENTS

Roger's tour of The Wall in 2012 has - in mid-May - this very late addition which at time of writing, concludes the tour. The venue is a historic area within The Battlefields Park in Quebec City, Quebec, that was originally grazing land, but became famous as the site of the Battle of the Plains of Abraham, which took place on 13 September 1759. Though written into the history books, housing and minor industrial structures were still erected atop hundreds of acres of the fields.[1] Only in 1908 was the land ceded to Quebec City, though administered by the specifically created and federally run National Battlefields Commission. The park is today used by 4 million visitors and tourists annually for sports, relaxation, outdoor concerts, and festivals.

It is no stranger to concerts. Between 2008 to 2011, a series of concerts took place in the park, including performances by Van Halen, Sir Paul McCartney, Celine Dion, Rammstein, Sir Elton John and Metallica. Later this year, Madonna also appears in the park for a sell-out show. Roger's event promises a truly spectacular end to the 2012 Wall tour, with the biggest ever wall promised, along with a memorable show (although Roger is keeping his cards close to his chest over just what concertgoers will experience!).

The RogerWaters.com presales begin the week starting Monday, May 21st, with advance tickets available to those who have registered their interest in particular cities. General sale tickets went on sale shortly after through Ticketmaster.ca and other normal agents (exact dates and outlets can be found via Roger's website). The public sale will also see a limited number of VIP packages made available for each show on the tour. Our thanks to Rudy Nseir for supplying a scan of the entrance bracelets for the event, shown to the right (click them to see them in more detail). They have RFID built into them for a special link-up with Facebook...more on that as we get it!

WARNING - SPOILERS AHEAD!

Do not read on if you don't want surprises to be spoilt, regarding what the band played, and what happened as the night unfolded!

Night 72 of the 2012 tour, and the 192nd public show of the three year Wall tour. Bigger and better than any of the previous shows, initial reports - even from those hardened Wall veterans, who have seen the show indoor and outside a few times - are that the event was stunning. Our friend Simon Wimpenny reported back after the show that he'd "Never seen anything like it, unbelievable... It really was THE greatest show on earth". We're expecting some reports, videos and pictures from BD readers and these will be posted as and when they arrive.

The first of the media reports came from the Huffington Post, who called it an "historic concert". Their review notes that the crowd were "delirious with happiness as In The Flesh? started. "Bonsoir Québec!" Roger Waters cried in French after Another Brick In The Wall Part 2. He dedicated the show to victims of state terror throughout the world, giving the example of a young engineer who was murdered in England under false charges of terrorism. "The descent to tyranny is powerful and fast," he said to the police and governments. The audience appreciated his sincerity.

"The sound was super well balanced throughout the evening: not too loud, not too low. Just perfect. You could even hear the show on the other side of the St. Lawrence River in Lévis.

"The Wall fell after The Trial to the delight and shouts of the spectators. "Thank you Quebec," said a Roger Waters moved to the very end. "You are beautiful!" Twenty-two years after the show 'The Wall' of July 1990 at the Brandenburg Gate in Berlin, Roger Waters has come full circle. "It was a very good place to finish for us," he said. "We will remember this night for the rest of our lives." A true English gentleman."

The promoter put together a very nice video looking at the concert, from entry through to the various key moments of the show...really nicely done:

If you went to this show in Quebec City, please let us know what you thought of the event, and if anything interesting or different happened if you've been to previous shows and can compare.

CONCERT REVIEW by BD CONTRIBUTOR, Rudy Nseir

I've seen the wall 8 times and yesterday at Quebec City was by far the best!! The surround sound was amazing (never heard better in my life) and the projections and lights were just amazing.

This was the fourth time I was seeing the show, and except for a couple of new surprises, I pretty much know the show. But the crowd experience, it was something totally new -
