Pink Floyd have been inducted into yet another Hall of Fame, following on from their November 2005 induction into the UK Music one. Legendary adult magazine Playboy have inducted the band in recognition of their "unprecedented combined commercial and musical gravitas" in the March 2006 "Sex And Music" issue, in US stores now.
They call the group "Godfathers of acid and prog rock, ambient music," adding that the band is "so integral to the fabric of modern rock 'n' roll". In the accompanying reader's poll, Foo Fighters win the best rock album, U2 are voted best live act, and John Coltrane's "Live At The Half Note" wins best jazz album. The magazine is in US stores now, and available as an import in selected other countries. It is not known if the music awards will be included in localised editions of the magazine, though. |
