On the eve of the official release
date of David Gilmour's new album, "On An Island", we'd first like to
take this opportunity, on behalf of Brain Damage, and many of you who
have emailed in, to wish David a fantastic 60th birthday for tomorrow (Monday) - and many happy returns! Despite it being his birthday, David is not taking things easy, and the level of activity on all fronts is quite hard to keep track of! We've got some urgent information and updates for you today.
If you don't win tickets to this concert you can hear an hour of the concert at 8:30pm on March 11th, and see exclusive footage on BBC Interactive TV and on the Radio 2 website from 9.30pm on the same day. Broadband users will also be able to watch a 60-minute edit of the concert via the Radio 2 website. On the subject of competitions, today is the last day to get your entries in for our special contest to win On An Island goodies - if we don't receive your entry by midnight GMT, I'm afraid you've missed your chance! Good luck! Turning to the heavy presence on the radio, our latest update comes from a Dallas radio station, KZPS, who are having a "David Gilmour weekend" as we write these words. They are giving away copies of his new CD, and also a trip to see him on his US tour at Radio City Music Hall in New York April 5th! They have also confirmed two radio specials to air on their station, which is streamed over the internet via KZPS.com. The first of these airs this evening, at 7pm Central Time (1am GMT), and features David talking about the album. The second is the latest edition of the well-known, syndicated In The Studio interviews, and airs next Sunday (12th March) at 8pm Central Time (2am GMT). Other stations also carry the In The Studio programme, so check your local listings. Our thanks to Cam Gourlay for his help with this. For those of you who are yet to see the full promotional video for the first single release off the album, the title track On An Island, the VH1 website is streaming the complete video, in high quality. CLICK HERE to see it, along with information about David's current activity. Our thanks to Anthony Abe and Dave Milne for their help with this info. If you wish to order the album from Amazon, where it is the number 1 selling CD across the board, you can do so through these special links: US/International, UK/Europe, Canada, France or Germany. We know that a number of you will also want to buy the vinyl edition (or indeed, instead of the CD version!). Here's the links you need for this edition, which will be in a specially designed gatefold sleeve: Amazon UK, France, or Germany. |
