The world premiere performance of Roger Waters' Ca Ira, being held in Poznan, Poland, has just been postponed. The show, due to be held on July 7th, is now being held on August 25th, the promotors have confirmed.

Many of you will know that Ca Ira was performed in Rome, in November 2005. However, the Polish show differs from those, as it will involve a number of costumed actors, along with appropriate sets and scenery. The Rome shows were simply musical performances, just using projections to put the story across.

A stack of information about the Polish show can be found on our Poznan show page.

The reasons for the delay, shown on the organizer's website (www.vivaart.com.pl), are not given there. However, we now know that the delays are due to "new production concepts" by Waters and Jozefowicz. They want to use an additional third stage and need to employd additional artists. "The key point for us is an artistic value of the show, and it takes time", said co-producer Marek Szpendowski. The formula created in Poznan will be replicated in other countries, so they want to do it perfectly.

The new date is a little curious, as David Gilmour will be performing in Gdansk's Shipyard on the following day - August 26th, as part of his 2006 tour. It could be quite challenging for Pink Floyd fans to attend both shows...

At time of writing, the official website for the show - www.Ca-Ira.wp.pl - still shows the original date for the performance. We expect that this will be updated shortly.

Our thanks to Marek Grzesiak for his help in bringing you this information.
