We reported previously that the promised reissues of David Gilmour's highly regarded first two solo albums, were finally on their way. Due to hit the stores on the same day as Pink Floyd's PULSE DVD - July 10th/11th, delays struck these titles, but David's website have now confirmed the revised date for these to appear. They will now be in the stores on August 14th in Europe (via EMI), and August 15th in the US, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand (via SonyBMG).
They add that the CDs have been remastered by Doug Sax of the Mastering Lab and Pink Floyd audio associate James Guthrie respectively, whose dedication to quality extends beyond the mastering to the actual CD pressings. They have been working closely with Sony and EMI to ensure that the actual CD pressings are the best that mass pressing equipment can produce, and the approval process has taken up a little time, hence the delay. From the huge number of emails we had during David's recent tour, bemoaning the fact that none of the tracks from these albums were played live, it is obvious that these are going to popular CDs. For those of you who haven't heard one/both of these, you are in for a treat. The first album has a bluesy feel, a contrast to David's work on the then recently released Animals album, whilst the second brings a more contemporary feel, a precursor to later period Floyd albums (A Momentary Lapse Of Reason and The Division Bell). We understand that the packaging is as before, and contrary to very early reports about these titles, there are NO additional tracks. TRACK LISTINGS:David Gilmour (first solo album, released 1978)
About Face (second solo album, released 1984)
