Pink Floyd The Wall - Record Store Day releaseThis coming Friday (November 25th), the 2011 Record Store Day takes place across many countries, celebrating the work of small, independent shops with a range of one-day-only special releases, unavailable elsewhere and while stocks last.

Two of the releases will be of interest to Brain Damage visitors. The first of these is a special "Pink Floyd The Wall: Singles Box" from EMI/Capitol, which is limited to 7,500 copies in the US, and 4,000 for the international market. In a flip-top box are three singles:

  • Another Brick in the Wall/One of My Turns
  • Comfortably Numb/Hey You
  • Run Like Hell/Don’t Leave Me Now

all in picture sleeves, are the 2011 remastered versions of the tracks, and available on vinyl for the first time. The box includes a poster. Please note the picture to the right is an early version of the artwork, and not the final version.

The other release of interest is "Syd Barrett: The Photography of Mick Rock" which is limited to 5,000 copies in the US. In a specially printed metal box is a 128 page book of Rock's great photos of Syd, with an accompanying text. The box also contains an exclusive 7" single of Octopus/Golden Hair in a picture bag and on yellow heavyweight vinyl.

Full details of participating stores, not just in North America, but worldwide, can be found at RecordStoreDay.com. Our thanks to Dan Stark, Kevin, and William Buckley for their help with this.
